    Gaming Keyboards - what's yours?

    Hellooo!

I'm thinking of getting a gaming keyboard with backlit keys as I like to game (MW2) in the dark, and I kinda want a nice new keyboard with some fancy features. I'm currently only a fairly standard MS one.

I've had a look at some reviews and I kinda like the Razer Tarantula, but perhaps you use others...

So...what do you use? Any you'd happily recommend?

    Cheers,
    Martin

I have bad news for you, the Tarantula doesnt have backlit keys.

    I'd recommend this:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Razer...irror-Keyboard

I saw my cousin's a few months ago, needless to say, this keyboard was sick, although it doesnt have any "gaming features" as such.

Re: Gaming Keyboards - what's yours?

I use the Saitek Ecplise II, it's certainly a tough old bastard. Survived many years of abuse. I might replace it with an Ecplise III soon because it looks rather nice.

The Tarantula is nice, my brother uses one, but as Infinite said it does not have full backlit keys, you can buy a little light for it (think it's called the Battle Light) which plugs into that socket at the top of the keyboard.

Re: Gaming Keyboards - what's yours?

I have a G15. My second one in fact. I sold my first to a mate, and bought a Razor Lycosa. It only lasted 6 months, before dying and I discovered quite quickly that having a mirror finish on something you have your grubby mits on all day isn't a great idea. Back to the G15 now.

Still loving my original Blue V1 G15, and still going strong

Cant comment on V2 G15, seems most V2 owners preferred the old one

Re: Gaming Keyboards - what's yours?

Another G15 here. What're you after "fancy feature" wise? I hardly use the programmable keys on mine, though they'd probably be quite useful if I ever remembered, but the screen is really handy. Not so much for showing health/ammo etc., which sounds like a good idea and looks pretty nifty when it first flashes up, but then you realise the information is displayed on the main screen anyway, but you can get a bunch of applets for it to show CPU & memory use, network activity, who's talking on Teamspeak etc. There's also a plugin for Trillian (and probably other IM apps) so if you're gaming full-screen you can see, and even reply to, IMs without having to alt-tab or anything.

I've used my Logitech G15 for the last couple of years quite happily. It's expensive and I've not really found much of a use for macro keys yet but it has a really good response, clear backlighting and the game panal comes in handy for keeping up with Vent channels whilst playing an MMORPG.
