So has anyone here actually bought a PS4/XB1 yet?!

I'm surprised at the lack of chat, I know we're mostly PC bods (and a 'higher' age group?) but I'd expect to have seen more talk of them after release.

I've not played either yet, can't afford one (scratch that, can afford them just can't justify one) but the PS4 is tempting me, I've got a PS3/Vita and prefer gaming to TV so it makes sense to go that route

I'm still working my way through my pile of shame (™ MidlifeGamer.net) so for now I'm very much last gen.

I still have XB360 & PS3 games I bought 2 or 3 years ago in cellophane, so will be waiting for at least the first round of price cuts if not the second.

I have heard that they are rather hard to come by. Shops sold out.
People buying them all in for Christmas presents.

My wife wants one but even she is saying that they are too expensive right now.

I thought there were still some in shops, more X1s I heard but if that's due to low sales or better distribution I don't know

I really, really want one but the things don't have any killer features yet.

I have an Xbox one, lovely piece of kit, couple of bugs to iron out, just no games, so not passing comment on its ability as a games machine. Its switching capability is rather nice, annoyed at the hdmi passthrough issues and lack of more than stereo sound when used.

Got a PS4 and absolutely loving it. Just upgraded my PC so had my doubts how impressed I was gonna be but it's a fantastic bit of kit. Everything about it is proper slick from the pads to the UI.

game prices isn't my issue, they're not that much more than ' normal' but there is just no killer feature(s), quote the opposite in fact!

Exactly my issue. I don't think the graphics are that much better, and really that's the only major thing they can update these days. The XB1 does too much to interfere with my existing A/V setup and the "social/sharing" features of both are unwanted features for me. I don't like the expensive tablet gamepad gimmick of the WiiU either. I haven't been blown away by any of the games yet, and the X86 architecture means that there's more chance of any standout games arriving on PC at some point as well.

I'm still getting through GTAV and FF-XIII (and FF-XIII-2) on 360, GT5 Wipeout HD Fury and Deus Ex:HR on PS3. Plus with last gen games available for a few quid on CEX/eBay/etc I'm more than happy to stay "last generation" (Wii included) for a good few years yet.

Having said that, if hardware prices drop significantly and the "missing" features are patched in, I could be tempted by a PS4, but it'd be in addition to rather than instead of my other consoles.

I got a PS4 on release and I've played a total of about 25 minutes on it - there just isn't anything worth playing on it that I don't already have on PC.

£400 netflix box at the moment.

Nothing out worth the cost IMO.

If they brought out a Gran Turismo, Last of Us/Uncharted or some other must have exclusive, then I might have.

I guess only people who use consoles as their main source of gaming will be queuing up for them right now.

And I am still hoping to see some hypervisors so that I don't have to buy these new consoles to play the exclusives

Had a quick go on Fifa on a friend's ps4.
Was impressed by the graphics, some frame rate issues but that might have been the TV.

The analogue sticks are much better than the ps3's

Re: So has anyone here actually bought a PS4/XB1 yet?!

got the ps4 coming tomorrow. quite excited by seeing the improvement in graphics, if there is one. played resogun on my brothers and that looks a fantastic waste of time. gone for ghosts and rivals, but im being told that assassins creed is good.

traded the ps3 and all the games in for about 125 squid, which isn't bad when you consider i traditionally only play cod and my library was mostly cod games of the last 6 years!!! i think one of the games only got me a penny too!!!

Re: So has anyone here actually bought a PS4/XB1 yet?!

I'm holding out. I'll get them both in the end but there are no games that I'm particularly looking forward to at any point in the next few months.
I'm upgrading my PC this year (My last build was 6 years ago!) so that should tide me over happily until prices drop and some of the kinks to get ironed out
As far back as I remember I've gotten consoles on release day, the is the first time in a loooooong time that I've skipped it.

Re: So has anyone here actually bought a PS4/XB1 yet?!

Am tempted by a PS4, but after playing AC4 on my PC and watching my flat mate play it on his PS4, I can't help but think the graphics are better on my older PC. Of course, developers are yet to unlock the full potential of "next gen" and it will probably be a while before they do, but the graphics don't wow me as much as my GTX 560 Ti. Yet.

Until then, I will hold off. Especially since the only games I have seen coming out on the PS4 that I would get are also coming out on the PC. I just hope they don't yet again screw us over with poor ports. Getting really fed up of it.
