I can see hoe this might help on a LAN game but over t'internet ? unless your router has the same QoS..

It is a new device, not just a rebrand - a few bits on it have changed. At the end of the day though it still does exactly the same job.

I'm extremely dubious, because the idea that any Killer NIC improves pings and so on is fiercely debated in the first place - the suggestion that a new one with a few new parts is going to make yet another significant improvement is completely ridiculous in my eyes.

That would be quite interesting, an affordable router for the home with easy to use QoS aimed at gaming.

i might invest in one for the server at the lan. as if it has any benefit it will show there

a network card per game would be better for a LAN games server than one of these, or just run a Linux server to start with

my plan was to test it versus the onboard marvell nic and a intel server nic.

While i think there might be a marked difference with the marvell nic versus the intel and killer nic i don't think there will be much difference between the intel nic and the killer nic

I'd be surprised if there was any difference at a LAN given that the pings are so minute anyway.

I recall that KillerNICs or whatever the company is called was claiming at one point that the primary benefit of the cards was to improve performance by removing the software firewall and instead running the card's firewall, and secondly by prioritising gaming traffic over downloads, although obviously most people stop downloading when they're trying to game online. As for the first, I can perhaps see a point to that, but I don't think a lot of people trusted their firewall on the card to be as secure as a typical software solution.
