    Lego Universe

    http://www.gametrailers.com/video/ce...universe/60725

Is it just me or does this actually look quite fun? Kind of a cross between Lego Star Wars/Batman/Inday and Second Life (only good, with fewer giant flying penises).

This sounds like it's got some promise as it seems to have things to entice adults and children alike. I quite like the fact you can build something and have Lego spec up the cost of having it for real (yes, I am a big kid).

I've played as many of these lego games as possible and loved every single one. I'm still a kid at heart and totally get what you're saying, although I'd shy away from ever comparing an MMO to second life, let alone a lego one..shame on you

erm.... why? I understand there may be specific types of MMO some people dislike, but to dislike MMO as a genre is a bit ....harsh?

Maybe I'm going too far comparing to Second Life, I couldn't think of any other MMO with as much user content though... Maybe Lego 'whatever' vs. Little Big Planet might be a better comparison

Anyway at nearly 30 going on 8, I'm really looking forward to this!

I was trying to look for a release/Beta date, but the little information I found points to the 2nd half of this year?

    Re: Lego Universe

Have they released any information on pricing? This is an MMO that I would actually consider.

    Re: Lego Universe

When I saw the trailer first it made me laugh. I played WoW for a time and grew bored of it, and haven't really bothered with other online type games of that nature, but this, this might well tempt me...

Afterall Lego Starwars rocked and was hillarious at times (really must get the full pack for 360 sometime)

    Re: Lego Universe

It's aimed for kids, so of course it's very simple. I think it might be too simple though. There's no levelling up or experience, just achievements which unlock items. I can see people just grinding every achievement. There are things like "Kill 10 Spiders, Kill 100 Spiders, Kill 1000 Spiders" etc, which seem a little boring.

Also the moderation thing could not work right. I think practically everything is moderated and has to be approved by an admin. Does that mean there will have to be admins worked 24/7 moderating absolutely everything? Could see that not going to plan and people having to wait forever to use models they've made and stuff.

    Re: Lego Universe

BUMP to say I'm in the beta .

Played for 2 hours tonight, and it's a bit hit and miss. The parts that work are very fun, but the parts that don't really let it down. I understand that it's a beta, but there are huge game breaking bugs. For example, you collect imagination by smashing objects, which you use to build other objects. To move on to the next area, I had to use imagination to build a lift which would lift me up. The bug I encountered did not let me collect any more imagination and I could not built it (neither could anyone else) and therefore couldn't move on. Pretty annoying, of course it will be fixed before it's released but still.

Another huge problem that I can't see being fixed, is the moderation system. It takes a couple of days for things to get moderated - seriously. This includes your name, public chat messages, your private place, models you make, etc. Everything is moderated, which is going to be a complete pain in the ass to do anything.

Update: Turns out, I've actually COMPLETED the beta already. All you get is the starting area. I've collected all the flags and bricks, completed all the quests and got most of the collectibles. Such a short beta.

I asked "How do I get to other planets?" and that wasn't allowed, lol. Karate isn't allowed either for some reason.
