sounds good to me - loved the original! Nothing to say the PC version won't have better assets (in fact it absolutely will given how crappy the textures would be otherwise!) and scale up for DX11 hardware.
Could be a game finally to shift me to a new card - lord knows nothing else has..
The problem is expectation - and it works like this:
"I am a PC owner and I expect my games to run perfectly at the highest setting possible"
So even if Crytek produce and engine which scales well for lower end hardware they'll get slated by users because when they ramp everything up it runs like crap on their ****ty hardware. However i'm in the:
"I am a PC owner and I expect i'll have to buy me a new graphic card to run it perfectly at the highest setting possibly"
..crowd
Arguements about how optimized crysis was aside (and let's face it nothing looked anywhere near that good at the time at full whack) do we really not want games that push the envelope somewhat? I worry otherwise we'll drown under console ports with related low-res textures and low polygon counts t'otherwise.
Im kinda in the same crowd, i dont have the cash to upgrade but if i do then i would upgrade if needed. I dont expect any games to run at max (i did when the card was brand new!), i was happy with crysis playing at 30fps on high, i loved the game enough it didnt bother me.
It pushed the boundries for graphics and thats what i hope they do again, games like COD MW/ WaW, looked like below average graphics to me and yet they are newer than crysis and so they aimed for the mainstreme, however since we are pc owners we should of had the ability to run at higher settings and they really didnt put much work in making it a lot better for pc in those areas.
I'd hardly call this a console port. Each version has its own engine so to speak in addition to the PC sticking with CE2(?) with some enhancements, the consoles have their own overall engine in the shape of CE3 which is cut down in certain areas.

CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
I think you misread my post - I didn't claim it was - my point was we need people like crytek to push the boundaries on the PC *else* we'll drown under all the *other* console ports (i.e. all the ones from other people)
No doubt crytek have a unified engine for all platforms but hopefully it'll scale significantly for the PC market - personally i believe this'll be the case because they obviously love pushing the envelope and they simply can't do that on current consoles cos (frankly) the hardware's pretty crap compared to the PC.
id (as I remember) start with extremely high end assets and scale them down for each platform - pretty good way to do it too.

Hmmm.... on the one hand really excited about the game and how they have decided to push boundaries (graphical or otherwise) but, well, set in new york??? Not sure about that. I really liked the mix or organic/tech in the first game (havent played Warhead yet), so I guess they wanted a change, but wouldnt want it to just become another city shooter. Albeit a very pretty one!!!
I'll miss all the trees with the sunlight shining through them![]()
No doubt there will be a frozen jungle where central park would of been.

Here are some further details:

The video in the link could give an indication of what the game-play in the city would look like. It seems the game may come out towards the end of the year.
Crysis was distinctly 'meh'.
I can't wait to see what the graphics are like though.
please no not a console port
the original one was good since it was written for pc and the engine was amazing if they make a console port they will kill the point off it
