No disc required, and being able to retrieve game saves. Sounds of epic win compared to other forms of DRM/protection, especially with the announcement of what BioShock 2 has on offer.

Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
Sounds like steam cloud for savegames - so long as it's locally synchronised and the 'net bit isn't mandatory for saving that's good. Won't do jack to stop the pirates but it may add value to having the original which is where the real anti-piracy success is (just like multiplayer being only available to legit owners). Add value, not annoyance.
Doesn't steam kind of offer the same service already? Or does Ubisoft want their own version of steam?
Might want to read the article...
Needs to "borrow" Steam's offline mode.Consumers of the company’s PC titles will be required to connect to Ubi.com accounts to authenticate games online each time they play them, meaning players will always need to be connected to the internet

I agree with this guy writing for The Escapist.... http://www.escapistmagazine.com/arti...it-is-Annoying
What we share with everyone is glum, and dark...
As do I.
While I sympathise with games companies wanting to protect their investment and profits, they're going to lose some gamers by doing things this way. And if their various attempts at locking gamers in actually worked, I could understand it, but we all know it doesn't.
There's the problem. Personally, I will not accept that. I am not accepting that, having bought the game, I've got to get their permission every time I run it.Consumers of the company’s PC titles will be required to connect to Ubi.com accounts to authenticate games online each time they play them, meaning players will always need to be connected to the internet.
I agree with the stance in the link noTHINGface gave - I don't want to, and moreover, will not "take the store home with me".
So .... if a permanent net connection and "authentication" is going to be a feature of games in the future, and it looks like it is, then I'm an ex-gamer. If I can find the odd gem that doesn't place this kind of requirement, then maybe I'll buy from time to time. But I'm not holding my breath. Shame, after all these years gaming, but .... it was fun while it lasted.
Oohhhhh so this is what they were doing, I remember a story about six months ago, where it said Ubisoft were planning to combat piracy in a new way. Hardly new way is it - as someone has already pointed out. Stuff like mandatory online activation/permission to play the game everytime only drives people to pirate the game.
And of course you can bet, it'll be the paying customer who gets raped, not the pirate.
