On the PC I am really good at picking out the ones I really want. Bit dissapointed with Painkiller (See Painkiller thread) but don't regret buying it.

    However !

True Crime : Streets Of L.A. and also The Getaway on the PS2. These 2 games are the worst games I have ever played. True Crime is just complete garbage that kinda feels like a poor mans GTA 3 / Vice City / Mafia / Driver (You get the picture !!!!) and The Getaway I found really did have potential except one minor drawback. There was no map like on Driver etc (etc Mentioned above) so you could end up driving round in circles for hours trying to find a bar down this tiny back alley whilst getting chased by triads and the local police. Only way you could tell which way to go was by the indicators on the back of the car blinking left or right, didn't really help with navigation though as it was just a general direction

That was fkin annoying, ruined the game IMHO. Im glad i only rented it for PS2 - although i only played it for 1 evening it peed me off that much.

Mine would have to be Star Trek: Borg. It was one of the mid-nineties 'movie' games with hotspots on the screen which you'd click on to get the story going - a bit like being charged £25 to play Crimson Room.
It was a crap story, the hotspots were about 2 pixels squared and it was just crapness in a box.

other than that it'd be Toca Race Driver, but thats only cos my pc is cack and it crashes when loading

Gotta be 'Jet Force Gemini' and also 'Extreme G' for the N64 , anyone remember those?

I hated them ! , and could never get into JFG for some reason , never liked it.

I'm a lot more careful in buying games for my gamecube now , I only really buy games that have a good background to them (Zelda , Mario , Metal Gear etc.) but have also made sure i've read up on reviews to get SSX 3 , and not SSX Tricky.

All the games I *buy*, I really like. There have been a few games which I borrowed, or downloaded which were dissapointing. Resident Evil Survivor comes to mind.

    Half Life.

If I hadn't have bought that game I'd be doing normal things in the evenings instead of being a 47 year old computer games junkie .

It has to be any version of Championship Manager, I can't stop playing them which leads to many an arguement with the mrs.

Sooo many, I used to buy about three games a month, the one that springs to mind is "Daikatana", my xbox is chipped so although there are many there I could complain about the question was about "buying".

    Gekido on the PS1 - Scrolling beat-em-up.

The instruction booklet was in English and so were the main screens, everything else was in Japanese !! Plus your character gained extra moves through the game as you progressed, nice touch, apart from the button combo's would flash up on the screen as you were playing. Usually in the middle of a fight so you had no chance of pressing pause fast enough to write them down. Music was good though - banging techno and hardcore

Gotta agree with Sair, cos I tried to play Angel Of Darkness with her...was equally excited about it....

SHOWER of CARP game.....just putrifyingly bad programming, aweful control system when it SHOULD have got better....and for a short time..it sullied my love of the PS2.

    and then....

BANG..Prince of Persia Sands of time.....AWESOME.

Re instated my love of the PS2.

PC game regret the most......er.....International Rally Championship....orange box, with a Seat World Rally car on it....

NEVER been so angry in my LIFE

    yep

to be fair on turok 2 though the graphics were phenomenal (with the expansion pack) 640x480 with loadsa colourful claret

Some very inventive weapons and nicely animated enemies. Multiplayer reminded you just how good goldeneye was... as if you needed reminding

turok 2 was a whole bunch of nice features without a game

yes the weapons were cool, yes having different character abilites in multipleyer was cool - but the game itself was so horifically bad, and the multiplayer was possibly the worst part
