right guys, need some idea crunching with regard to pb. for the last few months whenever i'm playing cod4 i seem to have not so much an intermittant issue with pb as it can happen every map or every other map and i get kicked from the server. now all i get is a pb general authentication error, which from what i can see covers a fair bit.
i have tried all the usual suspects - uninstalled/reinstalled pb & cod, i've disabled kis and enabled port forwarding for both pb & cod. also put pc into dmz to check if it was a router issue that i wasn't aware of, and tried pbA & B in compatability mode but nothing has worked.
this happens on both my win7 & xpsp3 drives, so i wiped my xp drive and installed fresh copy of 7 on it. this was with gfx/kb/mouse drivers and cod 4 only. now pb was installed with cod - but i got rid of the pb data and did a manual pbsetup. now there is not only a htm folder for the updates in the root directory so c:\program files (x86\activision\cod4\pb\htm, there is also (if when navigating you click on compatibility files) a htm folder c:users\me\appdata\local\virtualstore\program files (x86)\activison\cod4\pb. so made sure that updates applied there to (just to make sure - don't know why, clutching at straws).
i had a couple of sessions sun/mon/wed nights - totalling about 4-6 hours and not once did i get a pb kick. now lastnight it started of with a losing key packets kick - no problem, something that happens once in a blue moon so not concerned. but after that, within 30 mins i'd had 3 or 4 general authentication kicks. did another manual update, but it's playing up again as it did before.
now this is really starting to piss me off, as it's become so frustrating - i've found myself starting to dislike playing cod4 again after just coming back to it.
has anyone got any ideas?............as i'm fresh out.
