Well at least the C&VG guy got to have his say. It has to be said that there are too many parents that need to be more responsible about the violence they expose their children to and not just video games.
lol @ the woman.
how many people have committed serious acts of crime due to a video game? yeah i see how playing these games are a problem..even then if your actually capable of doing criminal acts because you "played a game" then there will obviously be problems elsewhere and not just with violent games to provoke someone into doing such crimes
my 2 cents
I think video games are just the latest target in this ridiculous blame culture. Bad parenting? Of course not, it must be those evil games! If a kid shoots up a school, it will get blamed on video games since the chances are that the kid will have played a video game sometime in the past month. It couldn't have anything to do with films he watched, books he read, internet sites he visited, or maybe um, bad parenting. Nope, it MUST be video games since that's the cool new thing to put all the blame on.
Some people are absolute morons.
<sigh> Just like every generation before it. Blame the music, clothes, hair, cars, diet or anything else. It's all wrong
Society's to blame,
Or possibly Atari.
Don't you all remember what it was like before the Atari. No violence, drugs, prejudice, rape, or pre-marital-sex. Paradise ruined by something so innocuous as video games? I don't think so.
Video games, rap music before that, violent movies before that, and even comics were once blamed for the downfall of society by ignorant bigoted people who are more interested in their personal agenda, their need of a scapegoat to push it and no interest in actually solving the deep rooted social problems behind violent crime and other such issues.
If you're incapable of keeping that 18 rated adult game out of your child's hands, then the only person to blame is yourself. When I was growing up(and I'm only 23, so we're not talking a different generation here). Some things were for kids and some things were for adults.
If your 6 yr old kid is killing hookers in GTA, I swear this was an example I saw given by a 'worried' parent once. It's not Rockstar's fault, it's yours, for not watching your kid closer.

There's no arguing with nutjobs. If their argument isn't based on logic, it can't be swayed by logic. The best response is to ignore them.

Along with the statistics that show falling crime rates, this is my sentiments exactly.
Surely actual issues like the sales and use of high classed drugs, etc are more cause to everything than video games. I mean, any popular media format these days (movies, music) explores all of these aspects too but people always forget that lol.
The average age of a gamer is 33? Seriously?
That woman annoys me. Really really really annoys me.
