    Gaming headset

I'm looking out for a gaming headset and seeing what you guys thought. My budget is around 25 pounds so have ended up with these 2 choices.

    Plantonic Gamcom 377
    Steelseries 3H VR

Seems like the plantonic ones may have better sound quality, but i prefer the design of the steel series.

Anyone have experience of any of these haedsets?

Yes i recently bought the Plantronic 377 to replace my Creative fatal1ty headset. After about a month of use id say its pretty damn good for the price, mic isnt bad for VOIP(skype/teamspeak/vent) and the sound quality is good so you can tell if a guys behind you from the foot steps.

I havent found a real bad point for it yet apart from the cable being a bit short (i wish it wass longer) but its not really a problem.

cheers for the info. I'm slowly veering towards the plantronics one now, definitely more info on it out there. I just noticed the fold away mic on it. It's a cool feature!

Yeh the mic just pushes upwards into a cut-in bit on the headband, its nice for tucking it away (actually works!). Remember theres two version of this headset, the 367 and the one your on about the 377, the difference is the latter is open ear design now i wasnt expecting much from when i saw this but it does affect it alot. I can hear things next to me with ease and say if the door bell goes or some one knocks of the door i can still hear it (depending on volume of sound on pc ofc).

With the closed design its more noise isolation so if you want to hear nothing with them on then choose them rather than the 377 (its £2-£5 cheaper aswell). The only visible difference is that on the outside of the cups there are holes/mesh with red felt visible on the 377 and obviously the 367 is just a closed shell.

another thing i liked about this headset is the volume control, im used to a crappy basic cog on the fatality and most of headsets but this one has a plastic dial in a shell (yes its very basic but looks alot better than a little cog!), mute button works aswell.

I went for the 377s in the end. Got it delivered today. Feels really comfortable. and sounds ok. Not as bassy as i thought, but i think i need to adjust some sound settings. Overall, happy with the buy!

    Re: Gaming headset

Another vote for the Plantronics, while lacking in the bottom end they seem to fit the bill very nicely.

Got a pair of the GameCom 367's and have on the most part been happy with them.

Yeah compared to my old HS1's / Audio 90's the cable is some what short on the new range.
