    Recent Recommendations for Point-and-click Fan?

I'm looking to get a couple of recent games as a gift for someone, and could do with some advice.

He'll be using a laptop to play, and it's a real monster of a machine, Thinkpad with 8GB RAM, SSD and a quad-core as far as I know, but I suspect the graphics will be shockingly bad by comparison, so I doubt that any demanding games will work.

I know he used to play a lot of point-and-click adventure games like Syberia (only one that comes to mind), so I'm thinking it'll be a good genre to run with since the graphics demands will be much less than a modern FPS. Problem is, I really don't get on with those games, so I'm not sure what to recommend.

I don't really want to get anything old, as I suspect that he'll have it - he hasn't kept up with gaming the last few years, so I expect that anything from the last 2 or 3 years has probably slipped under the radar...

    Any thoughts?

I've been playing a free point and click online called 'League of Legends'. Its a strategy-esque game where oyu can have 5v5/3v3 and you work to together to get across the map and destroy the other teams shrine. Give t a look and see if you think it will suit him.
    Edit http://www.leagueoflegends.com/
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

There isn't a lot recent in that genre. Check out Telltale Games for Sam n Max, Monkey Island, Strongbad etc.

Otherwise grab ScummVM and scour ebay for some old point and clickers - Beneath A Steel Sky is available to download for free and is awesome, as are a handful of others.

Yeah Telltale might be a good one to go for, didn't strike me initially.

What about Ben There, Dan That and Time Gentlemen, Please? Heard good things about them, but don't know anything about them myself and not sure if it's barking up the wrong tree

Grim Fandango, Broken Sword and the Discworld series are all must plays too but like Salazaar says, there's been a lack of decent titles in this genre for some time
There's a review of Simon The Sorcerer 5 HERE from Kopite.

I take it you've had a look at GOG which is awash with classic point and click games like Broken Sword etc. Along with Syberia 2 http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/syberia_2

+1 to those. They're available for a couple of quid on Steam I think (the first one is technically free with the second).

You should be able to emulate Riven and Myst by now. Epic point and click adventures from the late 90s.
