    Deus Ex 3

Ok... I really need to pay more attention to the Gaming news on Hexus, why on earth wasn't I informed that this game is coming out!

    http://www.youtube.com/user/DeusExOfficial

Even watching the teaser trailers made me reach straight for the pre-order button, as this continues one of the very best in cyberpunk RPGlite games I've ever played.

Now all I need now is Bioware to release a Mass Effect/Deus Ex/Shadowrun cross and I'm a happy bunny

    Re: Deus Ex 3

I've heard many people criticize Deus Ex 2. What exactly is so bad about it. I was put off by it, but I don't like missing a game in a series (if there is a continuity), and Deus Ex 3 looks quite interesting.

Same here - I preordered Deus Ex 2 having loved the original, only to be badly disappointed.

When a company only decides to make a sequel this long after the earlier games it can only be in an attempt to cash in on the title, while the devs go about making whatever game they feel like.

Deus Ex 3 needs to proove itself in its own right. Ignore the fact it has used Deus Ex in the title, forget your expectations of what that name should imply, and treat it as a totally new game. Wait for the reviews, but ideally wait for reviews from people that played the original when it was new, and who have similar opinions to you on the sequel.

    Re: Deus Ex 3

The original was a stealth based FPS/RPG, the sequal was more akin to a FPS, virtually no stealth or complex interaction.

Personally I don't think it was a bad game, the second felt more like Half Life (e.g. FPS with plot in the background), whilst the first was a pretty unique gem.

Deus Ex 3! Amigads! *drool* It's going to be bloody amazing. Did you guys see the recent Steam deal where they were selling the past games in a bundle for super cheap? Capitalized! Though of course it means that I bought multiple copies. :\

Everybody was expecting a boffo upgrade to a PC-designed RPG with incredible amounts of content, great storyline and huge non-linear levels. What arrived was a moderately competent xBox game with completely linear gameplay and all the content trimmed down to fit into 64mb of memory.

Original - huge non-linear levels you could spend hours on, dozens of NPCs, giant skills tree that kept you frantically scrabbling for hidden upgrade mods right to the end. One of the greatest games ever

sequel - little levels, a handful of NPCs, skills shrub that maxed out automatically since the rails through each level had upgrades scattered along them. Not a dreadful game, but not great. Best thing was the soundtrack.

I too bought Deus Ex 2 based on the first game. I think I only played it for about 5 hours before getting bored. The first game is still my favourite of all time, I think. Ah... those white phosphor rocket things... the japes you could have with those
