Ahh beaten to it. The hilarious thing is, I'm guessing that most sports games sell extremely well for them on console (edit: we know form Fifa sales they do) and the PC ports aren't even worth pirating as there so shat.
Want I want to know is, does the code only work for one account or is it limited to a console. Say you have a household with multiple users and one console will the others have to purchase a license ? Will it be the same thing with the next churned out one in the series ?
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
Most of the sales are from new, as pre owned games in the series rapidly drop in value
It'll bit them hard though, taking away from a legit buyer in order to try and make an extra buck off another legit buyer, can see the value dropping as there is no online play
Better not put online achievements in either or I'll be pissed that I have to pay to be able to unlock an achievement
I love these vague & wordy statements, I do somewhat agree with project $10 but not for MP, give people some horse armour or something, nothing that affects core gameplay or MP!"This is an important inflection point in our business because it allows us to accelerate our commitment to enhance premium online services to the entire robust EA SPORTS online community,"
How is this different from something like Eve or WoW?
As far as I can tell you still get to play single player fine, but if you want to play on a server with the associated costs you have to pay EA directly, either through first hand game sale or subsequent payment. At least it's only a one-off rather than monthly subscription.
actually.. you're nearly right.. but to put it into a more accurate context...
Buy Call of Duty W@W and install it new onto a pc..... play online for free ...
then sell it entirely and uninstall it... new owner installs and uses original code..and can play online again.. for free.
WoW and Eve are constantly updated worlds with tasks, events, quests, and need mammoth online moderation.
Tiger Woods is a golf game.. and you just play against other golfers.. except for patches, nothing new is added. Same with CoD.... you get new maps on the upgrades sometimes.. and it's STILL free to download them and use them.. even as a second owner.
So, I see where you're coming from, but Tiger Woods is not similar to WoW really.

So I have a book which I can legitimately read out loud to others... then I sell the book to someone else who has to pay a fee to the author in order to be allowed to read out loud from the book O.o
Yes I know it's not the same thing but perhaps EA should think about WHY people sell on their games and fix that so everyone is keen to buy new... like you know, making decent games !!
If Wisdom is the coordination of "knowledge and experience" and its deliberate use to improve well being then how come "Ignorance is bliss"
EA make decent games - in fact, the more decent a game is the more people buy it second hand too. And the author analogue is strange - authors don't incur actual expenses as a result of you reading out the book. On the other hand, if they had to pay large amounts of money for a microphone system and speakers, as well as hiring a hall, each time you read it out, they might think differently about it.
the biggest mistake they've made is that people sell the game to get money to buy new games.
If the game has less resale value this will in turn affect new games.
EA never really have grasped online - look at the steam model, it works well on the whole and the numbers are certainly stacking up the positive way.
My concern for EA lies in the extraction of cash from those who clearly don't have the cash or are sensible with the money they have (hence buying used) - EA would be better placed to offer smarter, shorter discounts to the older generation gamer to bring them up to the new generation titles...
Please do not message me about Scan Free shipping, I no longer work for HEXUS.net
How would u implement a Steam feature on the consoles though?
Microsoft Xbox Live/PSN?
Games on demand is just like steam, you buy the game, download it, if you want to play it on another console you can transfer it but must be signed in online when you play it
You can't resell games like steam, just needs the gift option if it doesn't already exist
This is just an evolution of the model already seen with Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2, including a one-use code tied back to a user's account to ensure that if the game is resold, then the new owner needs to cough up some cash to EA for everything. In Mass Effect 2 for example, access to the "Cereberus Network" continues to provide some shiny extra features.
Of course, this is the first time that it's functionality being tied to this code, and perhaps represents a step too far?
