AnyOne know if Will APB Be Pay Monthly?
So yesYou can purchase a retail version of APB either in-store or via digital download at standard retail price (SRP $49.99/£34.99/€49.99). The game includes 50 hours of action game play out of the box plus unlimited time in APB's social districts customising, socialising and trading on the marketplace.
Once your game time is up, you have flexibility to top up your action game time from as little as $6.99 (£5.59, €6.29) for an additional 20 hours, while more frequent players can switch to a 30-day unlimited package for only $9.99 (£7.99, €8.99) with discounts available for 90 and 180 days.
The retail package also contains a bonus 100 RTW points towards your next purchases.![]()
I heard it was going to be free to play, but they have changed their minds. I've changed my mind about being interested in it as well!
good to have a choice but i have boycotted pay to play games.
I love the beta APB
Excellent game, but i wont be buying it just because you have to pay to play it.
Cant wait for Guild Wars 2
p.s. Andy3536 wheres the source for this
Pay to buy the game and pay again to be able to play it? Like hell I will.
Someone has to pay for the servers!
Ciber I see from your signature you play Team Fortress 2 and Bad Company 2. If you aren't donating to a server some other person is having to fork out the cash to rent the servers you play on. Personally I prefer the idea of a small contribution payment from everyone towards the running of the servers. Rather than someone getting left with a large bill hey need to pay off themselves.
If APB has a small monthly contribution from each player towards maintaining the servers I'd be happy. The problem is RealTime Worlds has proposed a rather cynical approach that is aimed at trying to milk extra cash out of customers. I can only conclude, reading all the details published, that the payment system is deliberately complication to confuse people so they don't realise how much they are spending.
Hopefully we will see a more sensible payment system nearer release otherwise I doubt I'll stick around. Shame really, playing the beta pretty much every day. You have to draw the line somewhere though.
When I've been in clans I've contributed to a server each month. I would now if a clan would have me! Between a whole clan it's only a quid or so each. The server providers generally use spare capacity to provide public servers as well as a form of advertising for their services. So, that system works for me. The trouble with MMOs is that you are locked in to paying many times that amount for your servers.
You've pretty much hit on the key point in your last sentence.
APB is NOT an MMO!! The term RTW's are kicking around to describe the game is a "Persistent Online Action Game"
So we have to ask ourselves why its planning to use a payment model closer to an MMO then other online action games like Bad Company 2?
Honestly its just so frustrating. APB has a chance of really making a positive impact in online gaming. The crazy marketing speak and confusing mixed messages about payments are casting a shadow over an otherwise excellent game.
APB will be free to access and to move around in the Social District.. you will be able to deal, trade and do other things in the Social District,
To play in the action districts .. you'll be paying.
BUT, from what Jesse Knapthis man, said to me you may be abe to pay for your own time online with online auctioning of items such as designer clothes, shoes, hats, and kill tunes (the music you're enemy is forced to listen to when you waste him/her and that you write)
They're pretty keen to make the financial part of the game as real as possible.. so expect lots of auctioning of ingame kit.

So kind of like EVE, you can play the game as long as you like and not spent a real penny on suscriptions.
Surely that would be quite tough though? You'd have to put in quite a lot of time to actually get the items in order to sell them and profit?
I like the idea though - in effect you're being rewarded for playing the game. Your presence encourages other people to get involved, so as a thanks for getting them to pay a sub, yours becomes free. Obviously it would be best if nobody paid it in the first place, but it's a good idea.
well, let me explain somethings for you.
MMO = Massive Multiplayer Online. And this game is just that. MMO isnt MMORPG. The reason why it costs is because they need money to keep the servers running. and the reason why it doesnt have the same system as Bad Company 2 is because the servers are provided by the players, in that sort of game. but I agree with you that I want it to be free, I wont buy it just because p2p. I might buy it, but not buy game time, and try to do cool stuff and sell them for gametime.
