Question MW2 vs BFBC2 hardware requirements / performance?

have had BC2 installed for a week or so, and it plays like I'm wading through treacle. One of my sons actually asked whether some action in SP mode was in slow motion - lol

Finally returned to MW2 for a quick game today, and can't believe how insanely fast it is, on the same machine. Found myself turning/moving too far, initially, unable to cope with the frame rate - lol

ok, spec is average/poor by today's standards, but it's a laptop:

    Vista Business 64
    2.4ghz T7700 C2D
    2GB ram
Nvidia Geforce 8600M GT 512MB vid
    7200rpm HDD

any ideas? Yes, I should upgrade to 4GB ram but for some reason, the sticks I bought a while back don't work, even tho is a 64 bit OS. Can't upgrade the vid card, unfortunately, esp since laptop manufacturer has gone bust.
One can never stop saying Thank You

your setting will most probably be too high.

go into settings and select as low as you can and see if the issue persists.

Your spec although fairly old should still be able to play itto a certain degree.

oh, was the first thing I tried. All set to low. There aren't as many options to manage as MW2 unfortunately, tho I don't play that game on the lowest settings....

Re: MW2 vs BFBC2 hardware requirements / performance?

I think it is the processor that's limiting the game myself (my system also struggles at times and the weakest component is the processor)

Online play ? I get some weird ping spikes in BC2.
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.

Re: MW2 vs BFBC2 hardware requirements / performance?

Is BFBC2 running in dx9 or dx10 mode? Since your graphics card should be capable of dx10, the game might be using it instead of the faster dx9 mode.

In your documents folder there should be a BFBC2 folder, in there open up the "settings" file - not "game settings". Scroll down and it says DxVersion: Auto - change auto to "9" save and run the game.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
