Would totally blow their minds
I remember being blown away by the graphics in Doom when that first came out (I had it shareware!)
When I first saw Daytona USA in the arcades I had the same reaction.
Other games of note for being impressed by the graphics - Mario 64, Far Cry, Crysis tech demo.
I remeber being impressed by the rolling intro demo for Frontier: Elite on the A1200 years back...
I remember the being impressed with the graphics on quake 4 and doom 3 as well as a few n64 titles like zelda
oh how the youngun's amongst us are spoilt! Unreal was genuinely impressive at the time, although by then I think we had started to get used to 3D graphics (just remember when quake was launched..wow) the fact that you could get a game with that level of detail on a console was amazing.
Not seen a jump in graphics quality like that in recent years tbh, things have kind of slowed down quite a bit imo..so like I said, spoilt
edit: ooh and I forgot all about the panasonic M2! (mentioned at the top of the page)..they should have released that imo. Sure it would have failed, but it would have been another impressive technical achievement for its time (like the 3DO). Sadly way too many people bought into the (frankly, rubbish and vastly out of date Playstation) so they got scared..you can blame fifa/wwf/tekken for that!
The downside to all this though is that yes, we are getting much better graphics, but all too often it is at the cost of game play / length of time.
I can think of a large number of current games that can be completed in a few hours - try thinking back and see how many of the older games you remember completing in just a few hours.
