    I totally agree.

It's absolutely beautiful but to me it's 'just-another-shooter'. They have some good ideas but they all kind of come to nothing in the end. For example in that movie you linked, he is getting approached by 2 big alien robot type things, so he goes in to stealth mode. Then he sneaks behind them, but then just fires a grenade at each one... So what was the point in going stealthed? He may as well have just fired the grenade at them both from the front and the result would have been exactly the same.

You could argue that he might have been shot a few times while doing that, but that is only important if health is a major issue, and it's not. If it was the original Deus Ex for example, every hit point mattered. So if you took them on head first and got shot a bit, you would have to then recover those hitpoints by sipping from water fountains or something and it was all quite serious business. In these modern games though where your health just regenerates itself, it's all so meaningless. You can run around gung-ho blasting away at stuff and win without really needing to do anything special.

Of course, most people don't care about this stuff, so for most people this game will be awesome. But for me it will be one to miss, just like both Bioshock games were.

/goes back to System Shock for the billionth time...

you're not a fan of immersion/environment then? i've only played the first game, haven't had chance to install the second but i loved how they captured the environment in the game even if it was a bit consoley and crap in places

Re: Crysis 2 and Fear 3 gameplay videos!

Well a bought the first one knowing what it was like, purely for the immersion and environment. It was worth it for that. I loved the graphics. I may still get this one for the same reason but I'm not sure it will have the same wow factor though without all the pretty beaches and water and jungle.

Anywho...loved Crysis, loved Warhead so this is a certain purchase for me, maybe not straight away though if reviews are just 'average'

I enjoyed both games but warhead seemed to have the stronger story in my view. Looking forward to this coming out, probally be one of my few game purchases this year.

Re: Crysis 2 and Fear 3 gameplay videos!

I wish they would do more with the game than just make it in to a standard shooter. I loved the first Crysis game, in around the 3rd level or so. The bit where you see all the sniper towers and I think you can go up them, and there is a friendly base and you can see far in to the distance. I had so much fun in that part. I wish the rest of the game was like that, but after that it did a small tank bit iirc, and then it went on to all the silly alien stuff.

Re: Crysis 2 and Fear 3 gameplay videos!

my 2 favourite parts of Crysis was running into an enemy base with the speed addition enabled, grabbing an enemy and then running off with him and ideally throwing him off a tall ledge or throwing chickens/crabs off of tall ledges other than that i thought the game was very boring with nothing innovative but incredibly pretty. and Crytek had the audacity to complain that no one bought their game

Re: Crysis 2 and Fear 3 gameplay videos!

They better not of ruined the suit modes, i loved switching between strength speed stealth and armour, what was great about them was that they weren't overpowered (i am thinking about online play), when you got in a firefight, quickly switching to armour could just about save your life, or switching to speed could help you avoid getting hit, or doing an unexpect strength jump could also be the difference between life and death, stealth was nicely balenced by the fact your had to switch mode before firing or you lost all energy.

I really thought the suit mode dynamics were great, but i i've read that they are making it more simplified and they are shucking some spiel about players developed player styles, of either being run and gun or sealthy and that ius b.s.

Access to all the different suit modes was what made the gameplay so challenging and stimulating for me, if they have done this i just hope it's either only on consoles or the pc graphics are alot better than the first game to make ujp for it.

I'm still actually playing Crysis through for the first time. I'm liking it.

    I hated far cry.

New (I think) trailer for Crysis 2:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_7_zXgYA8I

From what I can see it looks fairly mediocre now...I mean yes, graphically is impressive but gameplay looks a lot more linear compared to the first :/ The Jungle scenario was nice to work in, throwing people through corregated iron was fun, now it looks far too shooty

Shall see, but I don't think I'll be rushing to buy it.
