    Starcraft 2 pricing

Starcraft 2 supposedly has a RRP of £45 and is currently on 'sale' for £35, almost single-handedly bucking the trend for ever lower PC game prices. Thoughts?

My head says it's fair value - PC games used to cost this much back in the day, and decreasing numbers of people willing to pay for AAA PC games means increased unit price is needed to keep the platform desirable for the games industry.

But no matter how I rationalise it, I'm slightly baulking at it when I've gotten used to paying half that for AAA games recently.

The problem is I'm not even sure it's an early adopter price - Blizzard titles can hang onto value for a very long time - if it reviews well it might even creep further up towards RRP

So what do I do?! I can afford it, but at the same time, I've got other games to play as well...

Play the other games you have first, get your moneys worth out of them, wait for the HEXUS review (official and forum users hopefully) and then buy it when the price has come down a bit .

    The price won't go up

    Blizzard isn't Apple.

Sorry but £35 is too much for a computer game.

In modern times you mean? PC Games used to be easily £35 in the 90s.

    Re: Starcraft 2 pricing

They can price it at whatever they want.

Personally, I will not spend more than £30 on a game - no matter what. And it takes a lot to convince me to spend more than £20.

So if games publishers want to charge that much, fine, but it's beyond the price I'm prepared to pay.

I'm sure it will work though, because this title is so hotly anticipated. MW2 was much the same situation - they theorised that they could charge whatever they wanted, and they were right. I still didn't buy it though.

You know I'm a starcraft fan boy.

    I'd probably pay £50

Ok so the collectors edition is a little *too* rich parented 14yo for me, but I'm seriously considering the mouse mat.

I feel the same. Even though SC2 will likely be a great game £35 is too much. I just completed Crysis Warhead, which I paid around £4 for, so 10x that amount seems ridiculous.

Keep an eye on the best prices here: http://www.find-games.co.uk/18668-st...htm#B000RE216U currently £32.49 delivered.

    Re: Starcraft 2 pricing

You should have preordered it before Activision-Blizzard raised it to £35. It was £30 2-3 months ago.

I think your taking the piss, but I don't care.

A friend of mine is ment to be cooking me dinner that evening, I rang her up yesterday suggesting she could make something portable and deliver it to me in the queue. She started laughing and telling me that I was obviously telling a joke....

    Re: Starcraft 2 pricing

on the topic of MW2, I'm sure everyone here remembers that there was a huge battle between the stores (supermarkets especially) to sell MW2 at the cheapest price. Some were selling well below rrp.

Tbh I cant think of any game that has gone up in price after release on the top of my head
