    Natural Selection 2

Anyone remember the NS mod for Half Life? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74B5EeOSjUA Was it good?

I read on Bash and Slash that a sequel is being made and it sounds very good, very PC gamer oriented. TBH after listening I'm thinking about pre-ordering before the price goes up. It's only £13 at the moment for the basic pre-order. http://bashandslash.com/index.php?op...1030&Itemid=69 Find the little green play button to hear the podcast.

The Alpha starts 26th July http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/new...alpha_date_set

Is anyone here in on the game community already? How is it shaping up? Mind you it's only soon to be in alpha so far far from finished.

I like games that combine FPS and RTS like this. Two gametypes I love in one. NS they say is like Counterstrike combined with Starcraft. Sounds good right?

    Re: Natural Selection 2

To answer the first set of questions, yes it was good, actually it was very good at times. The problem was that the marines needed a commander who knew what they were doing in order to get a good fight going, and good commanders were few and far between. And trying to learn how to command often resulted in the grunts playing up, complaining and plain old bitching. But when played properly, it was great. It sort of fizzled out a bit after an update, but I had wondered what had happened. I suppose most people that played the old version were in to fps rather than strategy, hence the lack of people interested in commanding. Strategy wise the map size was pretty small, reminded me of the early warhammer space marine games

    Re: Natural Selection 2

Just bear in mind only the NS2 Special Edition preorders get access to the alpha normal ones don't. Been playing NS off and on for the last 8 years, cracking game but the introduction of combat sorta killed the strategy side of the came.
