Steam version of Plants vs Zombies Updated

Michael Jackson is gone due to a legal challenge, and replaced by Disco Stu.

More interestingly, there's a new Create-Your-Own-Zombie mode, and a few new achievements.

And more importantly, I would advise: don't run it. Seems horrendously buggy, and some of my save data was missing. Could be my machine specifically, but it's always run perfectly before so I think it's a problem with the update... we will see.

    That's what I thought

I've run it four times now, and on every single occasion it crashed within 2 or 3 minutes. And the garden looked really bizarre when I loaded it.

Hmmm. I think I will continue to hammer Starcraft 2 for a bit longer then and see if Popcap sort it out. Then again, they never sorted out the Win7 + Nvidia GPU shoddy graphics bug.

Michael Jackson Zombie has also been removed from the iPhone version... unless this already happened a while back?

Yeah, the announcement was made a little while ago. I don't think it affected the Steam version until today, but I could be wrong.

Re: Steam version of Plants vs Zombies Updated

I set my copy to not update after I heard the news a few weeks ago, I think I'll go and check to make sure tonight. I suspect it's been updated anyway.

Re: Steam version of Plants vs Zombies Updated

Yeah, the "do not update" tag has been ignored for a vast number of people apparently.

I've disabled 3D acceleration, and it now works properly (if lacking 3D acceleration qualifies as proper) on my machine. Having said that, the achievements are completely mucked up, and a lot of people are warning that it can erase savegames, so make sure you back yours up before loading this.

Re: Steam version of Plants vs Zombies Updated

I think the missing save games are because of the Steam Cloud thing. I had a good save on my netbook with lots of stuff unlocked, and not much on my desktop save. Having played on my desktop before the netbook after the update, the netbook has gone to the desktop save. Booo!
