Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days

There's been very little about this game on Hexus, so I thought I'd start up a post.

I haven't played the first, so don't know the story. However, I have just been watching the trailers on Steam and the cut scenes and game play looks pretty good. Just downloading the demo now.

What are people's thought on this? Anyone buying it on Tuesday?

I have this on pre-order for the 360. I preferred the PC demo but the online side of it is dead on the PC :/ Got the 360 demo and without fail, within 20 seconds you are in a game. On the PC I sat more than 30 minutes and not a soul joined the game

Very unimpressive demo, lasted about 5 mins...

Graphics look OK, controls are a bit weird... not sure about this one.

Re: Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days

I thought that the demo was alright, but the game as a whole felt slight dated, both graphically and in terms of gameplay. I'll probably wait for a drop in price before getting it.

This is exactly how I felt about the Mafia 2 demo, load of hype around it, played it and its alright at best.

Unless I was in some kind of time warp, the Mafia 2 demo lasted a LOT longer than the K&L2 demo. I mean, both are pretty short, but I played the Mafia 2 demo for at least 2 hours (spent loads of time roaming, getting killed by cops, restarting etc, then doing the mission which takes a good 15-20 minutes itself).

K&L2 though, killed the guys in the restaurant, ran through some streets and killed a few others, it was over in like 10 minutes, if that. Shortest demo I've ever played. And for over 1GB download as well!

The difference, I guess, is Mafia 2 has a story that everyone already knows. I love 50's America, I love the cars and the music, and I have seen, and enjoyed, almost every Mafia film there is (this may not actually be true, but I've seen a lot!). So, I feel almost familiar with the game before it's even released and therefore want it, regardless of the hype.

K&L2 doesn't grip me anywhere near as much as Mafia 2, it just looks interesting.

The Mafia 2 demo allows you 10 minutes free roam as soon as you leave your house, so essentially you need to get into missions in order to keep the demo rolling :/

Don't get me wrong, Mafia was a great game, Mafia 2 will no doubt be the same but I can wait for it to drop in price. Steam sale most likely, tried the 360 demo of it and it's definitely a PC purchase for me.

It feels dated. The third person shoot 'em up style of gameplay has been around for ages, and to me it felt as though they've hardly done a thing to improve it. Still felt clunky and outdated, and combined with mediocre graphics and enemies that all looked identical, I felt it played like something straight out of 2002.

I just went roaming for 10 minutes, had some fun and get shot by the police, you go back to your house and get another 10 minute roam.

I think I would be happy to pay £29 for it, I don't think it'll drop too soon.

Caved and pre-ordered Mafia 2 on Steam xD

Cancelled the Kane & Lynch 2 LE on the 360 as I found it on pre-order at a local shop on PC for £19.99 so may go for the PC version or wait for the 360 version to drop in price
