    rFactor 2

time to make a new thread for this:

rFactor 2 is the successor to the hugely sucessful rFactor. Only a few details have been released so far, the game is known to include improved AI, circuit specific environment maps, physically modelled bumps & dips and changeable weather effects. Furthermore, it will be quite easy for rFactor 1 mods to be converted to rFactor 2, and the same modding tools will be provided to community.
Several modding groups have already started work on mods ready for rFactor 2's release, such as CTDP F1 2009, and RMT World Super GT 2. As soon as the game is released, we will be hosting mods, tracks, cars and much more here on SimRacingWorld.

some info about the game and some screenshots and video from yours truelly nismo:

The track reflections looks sublime as do the tyres even on that low res mush.

Think a rFactor2 thread should really be created now as we seem to be getting a steady flow of stuff now. :smashin:

No other game do i want more than this but the longer they take the better IMO. :smashin:

This game is starting to become more myth than reality it's been worked on for so long...

It's looking like it's gonna be good though, just might be a while yet

I think it's fair to say that all proper sims have graphics that are fairly normal. Not particuly ground braking in any way.

That's not were they really perform though.

Rfactor 2 we're expecting a living road surface and tires that can flatspot etc aswell as dynamic weather.

Given the fact that F1 2010 couldn't pull off the living road idea despite all the speil, and it's no sim at all.
This could well be the most advanced racing sim available.

    Iracing doesn't even have those.

    It will be excellent

Can't wait to get my wheel hooked up for this, will be buying a Disc Copy or getting it off steam if that happens as I lost my code for the original and have changed my e-mail address since and can't get it replaced.

Oh, this is for games that are actually coming out
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

That's fair enough, but your again missing the whole point of what Rfactor 2 will bring. There's a very good reason the first Rfactor is still so popular. How many other games can you jump from LMP1 to F1 to Nascar to Formula Renualt?
You could argue that F1 2010 looks so much better, as with Dirt 2. But that doesn't make them better games.
As i'm driving around F1 2010 and its' starts raining, but i'm still putting fastest laps in with my slicks untill there's lots of standing water, i can't help but think i'd prefer something a little more.....

    Iracing doesn't even have those.
iRacing doesn't (yet anyway), but then to our knowledge rFactor 2 won't have data from the majority of manufacturers to make the cars digital versions of themselves, so it balances out somewhat. As for mods, they can never hope to become anything like iRacing - the most realistic rFactor mod of them all - CART Factor - is/was relatively unpopular because of how realistic it is.

I'll never say rFactor and the content within (either ISI or 3rd party) aren't a sim, but it's not quite as hardcore as iRacing. They're not appealing to the same market - iRacing isn't meant to be fun, it's meant to be as real as possible, and to hell with how good you are. To me, rFactor is a grade beneath that - it's meant to feel real, but not at the expense of fun. Below that you've got your GP4-sort of sim (which could be rFactor-level without steering help, but as most used some form of steering help, it gave it a reputation of driving on rails), and below that you've got your F1 2010 games which are meant to be believable, but are in no way realistic and put fun and pretty firmly at the top of the requirements list, followed by Gran Turismo and Forza, and then Need for Speed true arcade type games.

It's all relative of course, and I don't think that you're trying to say that rFactor (2) is going to challenge iRacing, but as I said, I don't think they're competing products.

As a side note, past GPL, NASCAR 2003, GTP, rFactor, GTR, and current iRacing legend recently drove his first racing car, a Formula Star Mazda, at Road Atlanta and showed exactly how real iRacing is... after just 4 laps he was only 3 seconds off the pace, despite never having sat in the car or driven the track in reality. Us mere mortals couldn't do that in a hire kart! It's a brilliant read. Page 1. Page 2.
