Defense of the Ancients 2

So, one of the main developers of DotA-Allstars IceFrog is now working at Valve (which has been known for a while now).
Apparently they're going to be porting the game to the Source Engine and importing all the original characters (~100 of them).
Anyone who played HoN/LoL (or the original DotA) going to check this out?
To me it sounds like a simple port to a new engine/graphical overhaul which is slightly disappointing. I mean if i wanted that then i'd be playing HoN (and not LoL).

Thanks for the headsup. I still enjoy a bit of DoTA with friends once in a while and have always desired that it be ported as a standalone game. Heroes of Newerth and League of Legends don't really compare that well to DoTA itself. I mean they have nice new graphics but most of the gameplay is exactly the same as well as heroes being a cheap imitation of the originals at best.
To me DoTA is superior to HoN and LoL because its easier to pickup and play on WC3. That is not to say that those games are bad; they are good but just not my cup of tea.
I hope IceFrog will make a good rendition of it when he does work with Valve to have it as a standalone for steam.

Got a lvl 25 char on LOL so will probably buy this when it comes out as I like the style of gameplay.

I've been playing LoL quite a while so I'll definitely try this out. I prefer LoL to DotA though, not sure why as it's usually the other way around.
