    Call of Duty: BlackOps

I tried searching for a thread relating to the game and surprisingly found none. I was an avid Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 even with its attrocious match making system. I stopped playing entirely when when the large number of cheaters on Steam ruined it. Never mind I suppose we have the next title to look forwards too and heres what I am really excited about:

    Dedicated servers (thank goodness!)
    New class system
    No more killcam (optional)
    New weapons

I already preordered it and hoping to be able to play on or before release. I am also contemplating on upgrading my Core2Duo system to an AMD 955BE so I can enjoy BlackOps a bit more.

So community, are you looking forwards to Call of Duty BlackOps and if so, are you planning any upgrades.

Hope to see some of you on a server or two

Looking at the specs, running it on a Core 2 Duo will be fine.

Steamworks is also incorporated into this, i.e. game saves stored in the 'cloud', achievement's and the like.

the dedicated servers will be useless, all rights for them have been handed to one company, and they are going to charge extorcionate price, i think £15.99 for a 10 slot server a month.

this will kill the serious gaming community, also there will be a lack of servers.

further more, the modding tools that have been made avaliable to the public are limmited and the cod competative scene will suffer for it. that most likly means no promod or anything like it.

above all else, its a modernwarfare 2 copy, just different guns, the engine is the same.

You could have said both things in one post by using the edit feature. Back on topic though do mods really make or break a game? I always believed its the core gameplay that matters and any mods that are released do not make up the game's community - although it does account for a small part of it.

I suppose you haven't played MW2 if you think dedicated servers will be useless... MW2 had the most hapless matchmaking service probably in the history of gaming.

Sorry, I can't agree with you on either point. I think BlackOps ought to be good, we shall soon find out.

    i was a pre.inv cod4 player, i know what i am talking about

i am in agreement with your point of that mw2 is shocking, i was comparing BO, to cod4. i was saying that BO will also fail, similar to mw2, in the competative scene and with lasting appeal, which is a shame as it could have been ok.

i have no doubt that this will be a success, on the console, just like mw2 was. this is because there is a less competative scene. it is my opinion that activision will forever more create mw2 clones that will all fail on the PC market.

At least we don't have to put up with servers that are nearly impossible to play on and can actually ban players that cheat.

I was under the impression consoles did have a competitive scene going.

    Re: Call of Duty: BlackOps

I'm more than likely going to pick this up on 360 first, as despite being a great proponent of FPS is best played with KB & Mouse, most of the friends that are likely to play it are likely to have it on the 360.

That said, before attending the next HEXUS Lan I'll likely have bought it for PC aswell - well, if it is any good. Last LAN I went to we were still playing COD4 because it seems to have the gameplay just right...

    Re: Call of Duty: BlackOps

I still think CoD2 was the most fun to play online.

I might pick this up, but I will probably never engage in multiplayer.

    Re: Call of Duty: BlackOps

CoD2 had the best maps i feel, the Vossenack and Russian levels were so good. CoD2 probably had the best balance of weapons as well, snipers were virtually always 1 shot kill yet it never enraged me like it did getting one shotted from CoD4 onwards by some douche with the M40A3 (its equivalent) + Stopping power.

I'll hold on getting this until I have seen some player reviews/ youtube vids, and then consider getting it on the 360. Not totally sold on it yet.

I was contemplating on creating a channel on youtube to post gameplay videos. Are you more interested in the single player campaign or the multiplayer mode? For me gaming is about having fun with friends which is why I don't like singleplayer games.

There are a few videos lurking around - here is a multiplayer teaser (I must say it looks amazing) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_fsM6LBi54
EDIT: I forgot this other video Wager Match mode... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kg_8m...eature=channel

Anyways if I do make a channel I will let you know

pre order price for servers is ~£12 for 18 person ranked, ~£16 for 24 person un ranked, tbh doesn't seem that bad. ( http://www.gameservers.com/blackops/ )

Am looking forward to this, played MW2 rather alot, just IW.net let it down, hopefully this will be what MW2 should've been online.

I tend to play the SP alongside the MP From what I have seen the MP is still very much like it was in MW2, and I hated the MP play in MW2.

They should take a leaf out of MoH's book with matchmaking.. i find that pretty much spot on at the moment.

Quite looking forward to this. Now, what's going to be the cheapest place to get it for PC? Best I've found is coolshop £31.77 delivered. http://www.find-games.co.uk/25445-Ca...htm#B0036ORNUW

Plus 5% quidco cashback makes it £30.18. http://www.quidco.com/user/506832/59180/coolshop

Anyone found a way to get it cheaper?
