    Gaming Rituals?

My other half mocks me whenever I purchase a new release game..
If it's a pre-order, I'll always set my ringtone to the games theme tune.

On arrival, I'll make sure my gaming area is immaculate, dust free and has a slight citrus odour xD
I clean any excess sweaty buildup from my controllers, grab a clean ashtray, an ice cold drink, dim the lights, whack the amp to 11 and load it up!

So, now that I've adequately portrayed my oddness, what are your gaming rituals?

    Re: Gaming Rituals?

12 pack of coke, 50g Golden Virginia, Pizza, feet up, shoes off. Heaven.

Not one for cleaning up before hand, unless I get really bored waiting for the postman. My growing love of steam is hindering this though. For me, gaming is when I regress back to being a slovenly teenager and escape the whole being a 'grown up' thing.

Your cleanliness has inspired me to empty the bin and ashtray though, both were overflowing thanks to Civ 5 and Fallout arriving in rapid succession, so consider that your good deed for the day.

Disk defrag before and after installation.

On the console, mainly the 360, install too HDD.

Applicable to all; brew up and use the biggest cup in the house.

    Re: Gaming Rituals?

Hmm my gaming ritual before I get into any long session is to 1) drink cold glass of water 2) visit the toilet (I blamy weak bladder) 3) place an ice cold drink on the desk and open 4) lights off and headset on 5) load up teamspeak.

Well maybe I did break it down a little too much, but basically always drink cold glass of water, go to the toilet and just have a drink by my side whilst I game. I hate not having a drink by my side be it some energy drink, pepsi/coke or plain old water.

    Re: Gaming Rituals?

Butter the wife up for at least two days.

Do the bins, the washing up and put the nipper to bed. Check I haven't missed anything, make sure my wife is comfy and off I go!

I used to only have a quick fag while it was installing.....

    Re: Gaming Rituals?

    Install game.
    Play and enjoy game.
Go to bed far too late
Wake up, (work/uni pending) leave curtains drawn.
Sit in dressing gown and ignore outside world.
Look at clock at it's 8.30, dark outside and realise I've not eaten anything all day.

Those sort of days are very rare now though, increasing uni work load, social life and work - pesky things like that means I don't have a gaming marathon anywhere near as often as I used to.

    This^

I remember those days, as long ago as they were.

Saying that, I don't think I've played any games recently that have had me hooked like that, the last one was probably CoD4.

A savage hangover meant that I had a day like this today, playing Fallout : New Vegas. I seemed to have neglected to prepare for a tutorial tomorrow. Oh dear.

    Re: Gaming Rituals?

GTA Episode disc was my last pre order...

Pick up jiffy bag from door mat, excitedly unwrap new game, struggle with fiddly manufacturer cellophane seal, put new game in console.

I have Black Ops on pre order. I'll install to the HD and make some Coffee while I wait.

    Re: Gaming Rituals?

For new games I just sit at my PC and stare / check as the download progresses for hours. I can't function as a normal human being until the game has downloaded.

I'm fine once it's downloaded. I then usually get up and do other things!?

Oh and if I'm really enjoying a game. Door closed. Junk food out. Cold 2 litre bottle of coke nearby. Headphones on. Like a boss.
