    Fallout NV sound problems, help!

I have just bought and installed a retail copy of Fallout NV but I have a serious sound problem. When the small windowed menu screen appears the sound is fine but when I click play there is a short silence before a loud white noise starts. I can still hear the game sounds underneath it and this happens whether I use the front panel audio or 5.1 jacks. I have updated my audio drivers to the latest version but still no improvement. I have an Asus Xonar DG and I just updated the audio drivers to the latest version but still no improvement. version 7.12.8.1792.
I have had no problems with any of my other games.

Can you guys offer any assistance please as the game is unplayable at the moment?

Possibly play around with the sound quality settings within the options bit? Lowering various sound quality settings can always help.

Yeah I did try that. As it happens I went into the steam settings and when I used the microphone test I got a very similar noise. I know the mic works as i've used it before without issues. I then shut all programs, connected the 2.0 speaker to front panel and set the DG accordingly. The sound seems OK now, thru speakers or headphones, but there does seem to be some minor interference.
All of this is pointless as the bloody game crashed before I'd even finished the tutorial quests! FML. I loved Fallout 3 and was looking forward to this but heard about the bugs so I waited. I can't believe this game is still so buggy so long after its release. Terrible service.

I've had quite a few bugs with the game, even after patching - tends to be because the windows cursor (rather than the custom in-game one) keeps appearing at the edge of the screen in fullscreen view, making it go to desktop, then it'll sometimes get stuck trying to go back into the game without restarting. I've found the game enjoyable enough to put in around 66 hours or so, so far though. Glad you kind of fixed your problem.

Yeah I managed to put in a few hours last night and it ran OK so fingers crossed it will stay that way. Bethesda got back to me today and I sent them my details so with any luck that might be able to help. Merry Christmas everyone
