I currently own Xbox 360 with a 120gb hdd. Trying to decide wether or not to flip sides and get a PS3?
What I want to hear from others... what console do you prefer and why?
Exclude the Blue-ray, as I own a Blueray player on my PC.
Ta much!
No, IMO.
I've got both and while I've not been on my 360 lately the PS3 has done nothing but gather dust. Any multiplatform games i do get get bought on the 360 because 9.99/10 they're better, Live is better than PSN and all my mates have 360's.
Now unless you want to play Uncharted1/2/3 (number 2 was average imo), GoW3 and a 200 car driving simulator it's just an unnecessary outlay i would say. Just try and lend one off a mate, get Little Big Plane then decide if you want to buy one for LBP2.
Alternatively, is it not plausible to get both ?
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
Seeing as you've already got a Bluray player there are only two factors to this decision really..
Are the PS3's exclusive title's worth it to YOU? and I mean REALLY worth it?
and secondly,
How much online gaming do you do? And do more of your friends play on PS3 or 360?
I own both, and the PS3 is an awesome piece of kit to have, but unless titles like MGS4, GT5, GoW3 and Heavy Rain are very high on your list of must play titles. Or all your mates are on PSN and you're sick of playing in random teams on Black Op's it's probably not worth the outlay.
The majority of the use my PS3 gets is as a Bluray player, all my multiplatform titles get purchased for the 360 because that's what the majority of my friends have, it just makes sense from the multiplayer aspect but, it's also exposed to me just how few and far between the big exclusives that make a second console really worth owning are for the PS3.
Personally, taking bluray playback out of the argument, the Uncharted series, Heavy Rain and MGS4 have made it a worth while purchase for me, but only just really.
I have both and I use the 360 way way way more. I would think my 360 has 70 x more hours (maybe more!)

For me its always been about Bluray playback [+3D movies when there is more of them out] and DLNA streaming of 720/1080p stuff.
For my missus its because of:
Tekken,
GT5,
Uncharted,
iPlayer.
+ I don't really like the idea of paying for membership.
All of our friends own PS3 so the choice was rather obvious.

I have both, but PS3 slightly edges it due to all round media capability and my friends all have it.
I've had 6 360s and now 1 PS3 and i can honestly say at this time, i've completed Uncharted 2 and all the other games i purchased have been rather rubbish tbh, so i'm currently mulling over the idea of getting my 7th 360 as there does seem to be more games that appeal to me on the 360.
Got both, hate the 360; dashboard, play online sub, controller, all of it.
PS3 i got because of bluray playback originally but more has been added over time, iplayer (and recently 4OD and ITV players), media streaming ( browsing SMB shares would be nice ), optical output to my sound system.
It's free to play online, the pad hasn't changed in 15 years and still works well and it will outlast the 360 platform given its hardware. Waiting on my recent purchase of a slim ps3 to be delivered so my brother can have this one and play online with me and my friends in GT5.
The 360 is a typical Microsoft product but don't get me wrong, i use a lot of their software and think they're realising that they can't shove a "that'll do" product out. Other companies are changing how Microsoft need to be competitive, for the console market it's both the Wii and PS3 pushing them. The Wii with the more interactive features which i think inspired them to release their own in the form of kinect. The PS3 in terms of technological ability, it's a powerhouse and can do a lot that MS have tried/had to then incorporate into the 360.
I have friends with both who say "get black ops on the 360" because their friends have it and i refuse because FPS should be played on a PC![]()
Optical output has been on the 360 since 2005.![]()

I got a 120GB elite about 13months ago and no optical out. Power, HDMI, USB, network and the Microsoft AV port only on the back. It's not a problem, I wouldn't use it anyway. I mentioned it pertaining to what I use the PS3 for now over when I originally got it.
It's preference after all, always liked Playstations but it doesn't stop me trying/buying the other consoles.
edit:
brother tells me it's part of the official cable from MS. learn something new everyday, learnt this one early. back to bed i think![]()
I like the PS3 and would recommend it because
- You have an internet browser! You don't need to drag your PC downstairs from your room or grab hold of your laptop. You can browse the net and watch anime, Youtube, Blinkbox, ITV player, BBC Iplayer etc.
- More codecs supported. You download latest episode of a TV show on your PC using utorrent and then pop it onto a USB stick.. plug into your PS3 and if its a supported codec, start watching!
- Gigabit Ethernet
- Silent ( the slim models )
- Sixaxis and DualShock feature on controller
- FREE Multiplayer
- You can use the PS3 controller with your PC as well similar to XBOX
- My fav. games come out on PS3 - Kingdom heart, Time Crisis, Ace combat, Final Fantasy, etc.
Btw, both have crap graphics of DX9 hardware!See here
