There is a discussion on the EA forums about this, the conclusion is that they are either having server errors or could not handle the traffic coming in, no idea.
It also says all over the internet that a similar game/competition was run by EA last year and had the same issues.
The site is actually up and running now but as far as i can tell its all in French, no one from EA has responded to the thread or made a post on their forums yet, it is xmas holidays after all.
This looks legit but, i'm still doubtful.

Well I tried it yesterday abut had some errors and I just clicked onto it again and is working now. I won a 20% off voucher and a free desktop wallpaper.
