    Re: Crysis 2 Thread

HaHa, Crysis 2 special edition, now with DX11 to make all the PC players buy it again, comes with full DX11 support and 2 extra multiplayer maps and figure. Priced extremely high so Crytek can get extremely rich knowing they have managed to stick one to the PC community!

On a serious note, with version 1.7 of the advanced graphics, low options have now gone. Thankfully though, I can still run it with everything on high and no stutters and 1024x768 res. I have disabled all the blur and AA etc but happy with what my system can actually pull off. But it also shows that the origional Crysis was more demanding as I can only run that in medium settings and 1024x768 res on my current setup, go figure.

Still REALLY like Crysis 2 though, its a better game that the first.

    OR

    You have this option:

http://tehparadox.com/forum/f18/crys...*fix*-1813331/ modified exe file from paradox team that takes out the 1.1. autopatcher nonsense and fixes the flicker (This is the one a few of my friends have used and works great) This is of course you are talking about the flicker issue?

Might be worth following this too:

    https://twitter.com/#!/catalystcreator

They have already mentioned 2 updates for the profiles for Crysis 2 and more on the way it seems.

Just needs a profile fix, thats all You can however do this yourself if you get the Bioshock 2 profile and rename it Crysis 2 and point it to the Crysis 2 install etc you should see 99% of your issue's disappear. If you do grab the ATi profile fix make sure you get the right one as for some reason in Crytek's wisdom, the retail, steam and EA Downloader versions are all different

Yes - Thanks for those links. Unfortunately, all blocked at work.
I knew about the bioshock workaround or simply disabling CF, but these both seem to mean quite a hit on frames.
I know it would be a app profile/patch for the flicker, sooner or later, it's just annoying in the meantime.
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.

Hello CF buddy I've only installed Crysis to 'setup' ie. Not really pay attention, but to stress it so that I can get the settings right for a 'proper' smooth play. I had been using that advanced options tool to see what I could tweak, but I wasnt right at the top.

However, after reading a post on Guru3d forums, I tried something out. Got rid of my 10.2 drivers and installed those 11.4 preview drivers, along with the 11.3 CAPs. Then, downloaded a tool called RadeonPro, which lets you have per game settings, and using that, selected the F.E.A.R crossfire profile to be used, along with alternate frame rendering.

In my limited testing of some heavy firefights I can now play with everything on Extreme (and a few entries in the autoexec.cfg to sort out the FOVs) in the region of 40s/50s maybe dipping just below when really heavy. But its now very smooth.

Not usually in the habit of changing that much at once, but its done really well. Not sure if its the preview driver, the CAPs, or the AFR/CFX profile, but I definitely suggest trying it mate. You should be well ahead of me, unless your definiton of unplayable is that high a standard. But worth using that RadeonPro app just because it has a toggleable OSD that shows the usage of your GPUs in a crossfire setup, which is what I have been looking for for ages.

Cant wait to play the game properly now. Test firefights were fun. Just have to finish Dead Space 2 first!!!

    HTH

EDIT - tried to just grab an intensive screen or two to show you what I mean. If I can get this then you should too as you have 2 more powerful cards. Hopefully it runs smooth all the way through the game - will have to test more. But its good to know both GPUs are being used almost fully (The 2 red bars on the left)

MP is brilliant. Having a proper laugh with it now. I need to find a new setup now. Got Armour Enhance, Vision Enhance and Rapid Fire all to level three! Any recommendations for modules to try out?

I'm fairly sure it's the CF profile that needs updating. renaming it to FEAR forces a profile that's close enough.
That app sounds like a good deal though. I'll have a look over the weekend if I can.

Hexus isn't the place to be talking about if you're not legit. I appreciate people might be now, but that's not the point.

Got 12 hours out of it before finishing it, pretty good laugh, At the beginning I was like, Christ what have they done but once motion blur and mouse smoothing were disabled and I got onto some of the later levels I really started to enjoy it.
Only real grip, the nano catalyst bug, Couldn't afford any decent modules as it kept resetting my nano catalyst every time I loaded it, the cloak revealer one would have been handy at the end...

You know what - with some tweaking - I bloody loved it. Yes it's not as open as it could of been and yes the graphics (although tbh pretty amazing in parts) could of been better but I had a riot. As for that bug - yes that was the worst thing - my solution was to cheat I was that infuriated. That said, the upgrades aren't overpowered so I don't think I ruined my experience.

I'm surprised, I will playthrough this again!
