    Crysis 2 Thread

It's been out for almost a day and I've almost finished single player campaign.

I must say, this game is crazy awesome. Story is a lot better than most fps games I have played recently. Graphics are eye bleedingly good eventhough a lot of people are complaining that it is DX9 and has low quality textures. Music is epic, like serious dramatic Inception style.

What are other people's take on this game so far?

Like a lot of reviews have said, this might be Action Game of the Year and it is still only Q1.

Makes sense really, Hans Zimmer's the composer for both

Agree with the graphics too, it's an impressive engine regardless of the DX version. Only a couple of levels in at the moment so I'll reserve judgement on the story until later on. So far though I'm really enjoying it.

My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

    Re: Crysis 2 Thread

Im enjoying the singleplayer, didnt like the fact it hasnt kept with the same characters as the previous 2 but atleast prophet was in for a bit .

Graphics, on par with crysis which is great but at the same time a huge disappointment... its been what, 3 years since crysis so youd expect them to have something kick ass, its clear that console development has hindered the pc's progress and quality. Oh and the physics, is it me or are they lacking? I cant destroy walls (except for like 2 so far and that was for an objective!), a lot of glass/windows wont break which compared to crysis is a major blow as you could literally blow up any building, now its a bit 'meh' since they kept saying physics was going to be epic with buildings blowing up etc.

Powers, its ok but a major step down from the original... dumb down for consoles which is annoying! speed seems to effect nothing, i liked the original where speed left you unprotected but you actually moved faster than normal! Also reloading speeds would be great. cloak still just as good as ever but i just wished they kept it armour/speed/strength/cloak.

Multiplayer... was there any point? I was really looking forward to this (i enjoyed the demo, somehow!) but every server i get on to (most are full/cant connect) dont even start! Must be bugged like mad, never starts the countdown. Ive tried all day and havent managed a SINGLE MATCH, even quick match doesnt work... and where are the england servers with <60 ping, all the ones i see are 100+ .

Overall im enjoying it but im still disappointed with the lack of improvement over crysis and the noticeable consolification , I still prefer crysis a lot more but id still take Crysis 2 over any of that Cod crap!.

    Re: Crysis 2 Thread

Been playing this for an hour or two this evening, much prefer it to the origional with the way it plays and hotkeys for certain suit abilities. I prefer the setting also, urban setting seems to match the suit and the type of shooter it is better.

Just reached the last stretch of the FDR and I have to take out 2 tanks, havnt quite sussed it yet, starting to think stealth it past them completely. I am sniping the gunners but still getting a missile in the face. Noticed that a rocket launcher I picked up near the end of the previous section (crash site) got took off me when I started this section, bit of a git really with that one.

    Re: Crysis 2 Thread

I'm not interested in the multiplayer on this. Might give it a shot a some point. As for DX11, my system can run it at a stable framerate with all settings on low, 1024x768 and motion blur disabled. Later this year though when I do my new build should be cool seeing it in all its glory, must admit though, still looks pretty good given my detail settings.

well a gtx 460 and core i5 750 right here can play this game at full settings in 1080...i want my pc to sweat but it didnt knock it one bit, im dissapointed! graphics are not bad, but you cannot compare them to the orginal, gameplay seems much more refined but yet i find myself crawling back to mass effect 2....story seems okay just not good enough for me! only time will tell, ive yet to try it out online, i did with the demo but that was it!

So far im on the fence still, distinctly less impressive than crysis 1 in pretty much all aspects. I kinda like the way they have streamlined the suit but its only been done because of console controller limitations, its basically just dumbed down.

It was mentioned that its better than 'crappy cod', honestly i dont see how its a great deal different; its had much of the same treatment that happened to the COD series after COD2. Still enjoyable but its not the same and im guessing it never will be again.

    Re: Crysis 2 Thread

I am going to wait a while to see if Crytek will introduce an improved graphics patch for the game before I buy it. If not I will probably wait until goes the game goes down in price to between £15 to £20.

It is a shame since I bought Crysis and Crysis Warhead at launch. I am more excited by the ME2 DLC being released next week TBH!
