    Effing Steam (Black Ops)

    Hi,

After getting home from work today I thought I'd download the new, exorbitantly priced DLC for Black Ops. (i know - a lot of you hate COD/activision and so on, heard it all before).

Paid my money only to find it won't download. A quick check on the Steam forums indicates its been a widespread and spectacular mess up on the part of everyone involved.
They've had an extra month to prepare it for PC and they still can't get it right!

How hard can this be? No wonder they say consoles are killing PC gaming - with debacles like this PC gaming will kill itself (or more appropriately Steam is killing it).

    OK rant over. For now

Blame Treyarch and Activision. Steam just delivers what it's been given.
My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

Agree that console is wayyy easier to set up then PC, however pc has much more customization.

You've not played Crysis 2 have you?

Disagree. Consoles aren't killing PC games its the mentality of developers and publishers that is. Compare MW2 to Black Ops for example and you can clearly see that the first lasted longer (in terms of online players) than the latter. Why is the case? Black Ops is an inferior game made for the inferior console masses who like arcade action. I am surprised you bothered with the DLC.

Still waiting for the DLC to be on offer, seems a crazy price for a mild amount of extra content, they are well known for this though, not sure how they can still justify the games price either...

and they can justify the games price quite easily as long as people are willing to pay that much then they will charge exorbitant amounts. And we can all sit and moan about it but cod sells millions on release each year and everyone moans about the price but still pays for a shorter and shorter single player and expensive map packs but then buy them anyway.

The only way cod prices will drop is if the next one flopped hugely and everyone boycotted it. That will never happen though.

    Re: Effing Steam (Black Ops)

It's because people have mindlessly bought it on mass that the game has got worse and thus unless I saw a CoD game ridiculously cheap, I doubt I'll ever buy another one. I stopped getting them after CoD 4.

    Re: Effing Steam (Black Ops)

Seeing as COD 4 is still 19.99 seeing them cheap is incredibly unlikely only games that don't sell drop in price with alacrity.
