Figured those lot were all dead certs just from the way they were handled in the first 2. Hope they really go to town with having serious effects from your earlier choices, letting wrex live etc.
Can't wait for this.
I really hope some of the new crew members from ME2 return. Miranda Lawson and Jack were good characters.
I wonder if Cerberus blames Shepard for the Turian attacks after ME2??
Don't know why they've mentioned I-Man assassinating Shephard, kind of spoiling it already.
I keep imagining EPIC battles whenever I think of ME3, Geth, Rachni (depending on what choices you made with them) with all the other species in all out war against repears.
The latest issue of Game Informer contains a ton of details about Mass Effect 3. The first round of information is beginning to trickle in, which you can read about below. We’ve also included a blurry scan/magazine image (via GameFAQs) from the issue.
- Game begins with Shepard on Earth
- Shepard is on trial in regard to the events of Arrival
- Reapers invade while the trial is happening
- Prologue: Shepard’s escape to the Normandy, off to start finding allies, fighting Reaper troops
- Squadmates include Liara, Ashley/Kaiden, Garrus, James Sanders
- Screenshot shown of Ashley with her hair down
- Confirmed appearances (may not be squadmates): Wrex, Mordin, Legion, and Anderson
- Game will show a “previously on Mass Effect” comic to make decisions if you’re starting from scartch
- The Illusive Man plays a big role
- Cerberus is out to kill Shepard
- Enhanced RPG elements
- More freedom with character skills
- Larger skill trees
- Powers will evolve several times, not just once
- Weapons are like the ones in Mass Effect 2, have a set list
- Mods returning, swap out different parts such as barrels, scopes (effect both the weapon’s combat performance and its appearance)
- All classes can wield all weapons unhindered now,
- There will be limited slots to carry these weapons
- Soldier can carry all weapons at once
- Adept, Engineer, and Sentinal will likely be limited to two weapons, three for Vanguard and Infiltrator
- Numerous endings
- Who you have in your squad and which allies you recruit greatly impact the endings that are available
- No multiplayer

Yeah, tbh there aren't many bad characters in the series, some are a little one dimensional, but generally the character development has been pretty good. Not read any of the post ME2 pre ME3 stuff. Will have to find it sometime, sounds pretty good from what I've heard.
I'm not all that sure about Bioware using DLC story as the opening part of ME3. There are some of us who shun away from the expensive DLC and it all seems a bit cynical to boost more sales of what is ultimately an optional extra.
My faith that this will be a good game is dropping proportionally as I learn more about it while trying to stay away from spoilers
I'm going to buy Arrival as I have left over MSPoints but I'm hearing nothing but bad things about it. It seems they've taken the story/game style straight from DA2. ie. "streamlined", no choices and massive plot holes.
I think dev's just aren't allowed the time and resources that are needed for games this size.
It's comments like "Cerberus is out to kill Shepard" that just worry me. If you work on the assumption that the Illusive Man is really out to save humanity, then it makes no sense. It's completely out of the character that I've built up on him. Revenge, no; He would work around Shepard or hinder so his own 'way' works.
I bought two of the dlc after reading excellent things about them. Considering they were ~£5 I'm happy with the few hours spent on them. Not as good as a good book but better than the cinema or a pint
-Lair of the Shadowbroker was awesome and imo essential, well worth the money.
-Kasumi = Her mission is fun. She's like Zaeed however and doesn't talk normally in her room.
I'm sure I'll still end up with MA3 as I have overall enjoyed my time with MA and MA2.
PS. Bring on the Witcher2
Arrival makes more sense now I know how it fit's into ME3 although I'm not sure it really works as a DLC, I think they painted themselves into a corner plot-wise and had to get it into ME2 somehow and well, it was never going to be free. There aren't really choices in it, the outcome is basically fixed as soon as start for the sake of the ME3 beginning, so there's not really any need to buy it in terms of effect it'll have on your save/continuity. If they hadn't released it we'd all be crying
OMG you made us commit a genocide without telling us!
wrex as a possible playable character
love the fact there is no multiplayer. Means more concentration on the SP. Also having to bring whole civilizations together instead of just a nice group of mates is pretty cool. But hope the choices from previous really do affect the game unlike the 2nd. :/
I don't agree with Shepard being on trial for the events of arrival. Firstly I haven't played "Arrival" but that beside the point here my Shepard is a SPECTRE he operates above the jurisdiction of Alliance or any other authority beyond the Citadel council he can't be on trial on Earth for taking an action he deemed necessary for the survival of the Galaxy and war against the Reapers. It's lazy writing across the board and there is no excuse for it especially as the graphics engine isn't receiving any real improvements.
I still haven't gotten around to playing ME1 but I played through ME2 a few times and I got hooked. Am I missing anything by not playing the first one? Anyway this is going on my preorder list as soon as it's available.

That's OK - as long as it's great!
There's plenty to be playing in the interim this year.
I was hoping I could play it over Christmas!
I will probably end up loosing interest in it TBH especially since no new DLCs will be released for the existing games. The same happened with Crysis 2.
If I can wait 11 months for a game then I might as well wait 13 to 14 months for it and get it much cheaper with many of the bugs fixed too.
Looks like we have a contender for 2012 GOTY already.
