Buying PC game activation keys from eBay?
I know it's probably dodgy, hence why I'm asking but are any of these things actually legit?
For example I can get a Crysis 2 key to use with the EA downloader for £13.99, bargain! But I won't be buying it if it's dodgy.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Rob

Me and a couple friends did the same thing. It worked fine for us. The key was activated on EA and downloaded using EA Download Manager so the key(s) we bought were 100% legit.
Game in question was Crysis 2 too.

Thing with this is, you dont know where the keys have came from in the first place. Could be a dodgy key generator or even stolen goods and selling just the key off the back of a manual, or even someone dodgy in a software shop that sells the key then goes on to sell the actual product.
Playing with fire really

this.
in my opinion its not worth it. whos to stop the same person selling the same key again, and thus the key could get banned by EA in the future
Re: Buying PC game activation keys from eBay?
This happened with a bunch of Steam games in the past. The keys had come from some of the places where they sell games at a much lower price in an effort to combat piracy.
They nuked all the keys and left the 'owners' without the ability to play their games.

While I agree, my product key did activate and authenticate with EA's servers. And then some additionally checking through EA Download Manager then more activation ingame. If the key was dodgy then it wouldn't have passed all these stringent checks.

Have you ever played a EA game? They don't know the meaning of 'stringent' when it comes to coding ;)
But on a more serious point, as I linked above, being valid now doesn't mean it always will be :(

EA... Where using a widescreen monitor is classed in the same league as cheating on PC games :(
Re: Buying PC game activation keys from eBay?
Like others have said you don't know where the keys came from and if they are dodgy you will probably suffer for it, that said I have only ever heard of bad things happening on steam nothing from EA-DM
Re: Buying PC game activation keys from eBay?
As I thought then really, I'll have to scour around for a cheap copy of Crysis 2 then!
