I seriously hope not, because they've left the Half-Life series hanging. Though, that does sound like Valve.

Re: Valve done with single player games??

The Kotaku link doesn't work for me but I'd already seen the post elsewhere. The part the sites are jumping on is "Portal 2 will probably be Valve's last game with an isolated single-player experience."

That doesn't say Valve are done with single-player. Gaming sites sensationalising news for the sake of clicks
My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

0iD: Plus weeing in it every now & again does it good
scaryjim: 10" is just a little large to hold comfortably in one hand, which makes it a lot harder to tap, swipe and generally interact with.

Re: Valve done with single player games??

Yeah 'isolated' being the important word here. I'd imagine there will just be co-op in all games, ep3 would be kinda nice with that implemented, see you all in 3years time when it's released!

The co-op mode in portal was really fun but it lacked story like the single player had.

Re: Valve done with single player games??

Somehow, I wonder how much games companies over-estimate the online market.

I'm very much an "online" gamer, spent hundreds of hours clanning for Battlefield 2, but I haven't bought a game specifically for its collaborative features since... I don't even know... Battlefield 2142 I guess, which was rubbish.

Every game I buy is on the strength of its single-player, and most of the multi-player focussed ones I just don't bother actually playing in the end.

Re: Valve done with single player games??

Do you know what would make me more interested in multiplayer gaming?

First of all: more multiplayer story-based co-op games. Secondly: games so impenetrable and diverse, so head-scratchingly befuddling and complex, so utterly abstract and sneeringly highbrow that anyone under eighteen/homophobic/racist/stupid/who uses the word "lolzor" is confused or scared into avoiding them. I used to play on Xbox Live but it seems to be populated with the sort of person who finds Saved By The Bell intellectually taxing, and even my favourite hobby of passive-aggressively wearing away at their self-confidence until they mysteriously disappear seems pointless in the face of the sheer number of them.

So, what I'm really saying is that I'll write all the plot and dialogue in the style of the last paragraph, and someone else can do all the coding and whatever. Who's in?

Re: Valve done with single player games??

I would like more games to have decent co-op campaigns. I loved the one in Spinter cell conviction and loved playing spec op`s on mw2 with a mate.

I still love playing single player games though so Hope valve dont turn their back fully as they have been one of the best story tellers in the industry for a long time.

That's all I care about tbh, not really too bothered about their other games really.
