    The Witcher 2

So who has pre-ordered? Its due the 17th (last I checked)

I'm really excited about this! I preordered on steam a couple of weeks ago but I understand that people who ordered on steam will not be able to pre-load... bit annoying but I'm a patient man

Looking forward to the new combat system and the crafting system particularly. you can create new weapons and armor now as well as potions.

A friend of mine bought the first one which when I tried it on his pc I hated. However, due to pc game boredom I had a look at some vids, articles etc for the Witcher 2, and I was impressed by the changes they had made. So my friend bought the collectors edition to get the head figure thing, but also bought a copy direct from the makers of the game (he likes to support them). So i'll be getting the copy that comes with the collectors edition, but without the head thing of course lol I am looking forward to it.........just hope it turns out to be a good game.

    http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/the_witcher_2

Now available at GoG.com. People who purchase the game will be able to predownload 95% of the game, the remaining will be available on release date 17th May. As for Steam I am not sure if predownloading will be available as it was mentioned GoG.com will be the only place to do so.

Side Note, the Australian version of The Witcher 2 has one segment where a (sexual) reward is automatically declined, this is a very very small part of the game. However, by purchasing from GoG.com you can set you country to non-Australia and purchase the non censored version like everybody else.

Also, you can purchase the original witcher game for $5 till around about the end of the month.

    Get on with it!

The first game takes a while to get through, even if you've done it before. The sequel looks like it's going to be quite a bit shorter, but I think it'll make up for it in other areas. I'm just finishing my neutral play through, though I'm wondering whether I should go back and do another with the other romance option as well (annoying that the choice is roughly half way through the game so there's a lot to play through for an alternate save!).

Re: The Witcher 2 - just a week away

Currently playing through the first one almost at the end of Act3. Have a feeling I'm going to need to sink some major time into it over the weekend to be ready for the 2nd.

Just waiting on GOG to email me the details to download and pay for it.

Re: The Witcher 2 - just a week away

i almost finished the original but then reformated, saves became corrupted and then eventually i did restart and happened to have reformatted but forgot to backup my saves this time... i gave up completing it, its an epic game (on my top 5 list) but i just cant finish it as its soooooo long to complete and with the release of TW2 next week i dont think ill do it lol.

I had it preordered at game but thought id just buy it from GOG to get it preloaded now as i can see the servers dieing from day one downloads and also virgin media will throttle me lol!.
    Should be amazing

Re: The Witcher 2 - just a week away

Anybody seen any more information on porting saves from the previous game? I backed a load up on my external hard drive might be worth digging them out.

Yes the information in save games is used. No-one has yet produced a spoiler of every decision and the consequence in the sequel yet though.

Right will be restoring my completed playthrough then. I also did every single side quest I could find so I should have some good stuff to carry on through with any luck.

Re: The Witcher 2 - just a week away

Nowhere near finishing the first one yet - took me a couple of plays to actually get into it, and then my character stalled a little bit. Hopefully by the time I've got going with it in the summer the price will have dropped a little on the sequel.

Downloaded the preload now, will probably spend the weekend finishing off the first again just so I have some savegame data to import. Meh, I'm on call so there's no going out and having fun to be had...

Re: The Witcher 2 - just a week away

Finished off my latest play through (shani/neutral). What a great game - I'd forgotten how well the exposition works at the end Had a very cool moment where the wife was near the start of a new game on the computer next to me - she looked over and saw a certain character, which perfectly explained something that was puzzling her on her screen

Not exactly sure on the mechanism for transferring the data over, presuming it's the last autosave or something.

Re: The Witcher 2 - just a week away

Just had a quick google and there is no news on steam pre-loads as yet, although considering teh GoG purchasers have access already maybe those who purchase on steam will get a day before pre-load or something? At least I hope we do, that way I can stick it on the download the night before so I can play it as soon as I get home from work on release day... girlfriend is not going to be happy
