    Hellgate London open beta

Did anyone used to play this? I missed it the first time round (my pc was shoddy back then). Seems like everyone is buying up old or dead mmos and redoing em as f2p (with in app purchases obviously).

Anyhow, Is it worth the time (in your opinion)? It looks interesting enough, a bit like anarchy online/star trek online...

First time around I thought it was pretty poor to be honest. I don't think I'll be going anywhere near it.

Curiosity has got the better of me and I started the download of the client last night, their download servers are dead slow to start, and the client is 5gb... Not sure if anyone will bothered but I'll post an update later after work.

Have to agree with MasterFlash, didn't seem much cop the first time round. It had potential, just didn't live up to it.

Well, had a go... first negative point was the queue to log in... look about 10 mins!? After looking through the classes, choose engineer as it seemed to most interesting. The story line seems good enough, but the combat and interface is more wooden and awkward than anything. Not really something you would expect in this day and age...

So i'm in agreement with you guys, not really worth a go, even if its free, time is money after all.

    Re: Hellgate London open beta

The loot system was just too frustrating from my point of view and would have benefitted from a way to trade things properly between accounts on your single player games, and some kind of auction house mechanic in multiplayer.

    Re: Hellgate London open beta

I always felt the original was like a 3d post-apocalyptic Diablo and I did quite like it, multiplayer however felt a bit lonely, no one actually interacting much so teaming didn't happen.

the loot system was very random but at the same time that's the nature of a highly randomly generated game, it could of been a bit better tailored towards your character though.

The original was free to play, you needed you needed a paid account to get access to the high end additional content.
