    Far Cry Dam Level

I'm at the end of this level now (I think) where I have to get into the Volcano base...

How the HELL do I do it without getting killed by all those Fatboys with rockets? It's just me, my machine guns and my trusty Buggy! Help! If there was a clear path I'd just drive through... But there isn't!!

    You drive past them.

Drive off the bridge, keep going left then around them and up a hillside. Theres a lookout tower- grab armour/weapons/health/ammo and sit atop of the hill gazing below at kriegers hideaway and snipe everyone of the elite and riot gits below- some have rocket lauchers use the sniper rifle and OCGW.

Get down there and pick up the goodies and then go into kriegers base, your about 10mins from the end. The last bits a little tricky so i'l be online later if you need any tips

Yup, you don't have to kill them, simply avoid them as much as possible.

I used the buggy to do it. Kept popping over the first crest after driving down the bridge and capping the nearest fatboy then reversing back down to avoid the rockets. If they got close by that time I had already damaged them so taking them down at close range was easy.

After clearing the way. I jumped out to tidy up the last locust up on the ridge, I got back in the buggy and used it to jump the lava stream where I abandoned it to winkle out the mercs at the top of the hill on foot.

Then it's like Steve says. Pick up the sniper rifle and start taking them down. Start with the rocket guy first though cuz he can spoil your day.

I like to kill everything simply because I'm that way inclined.

Use the rocket launcher and aim at the feet of the armoured mercs but move to the second set of pillars or you will get wasted by splash damage from their rockets. The grenade launcher on the OICW helps here too. Make sure you have a full load in both these weapons before you enter the room.

What the hell is an OICW? And an OCGW?

And I don't have a blasted rocket launcher! I think I'll use the "run straight through avoiding everyone" tactic!

I look forward to getting this far

Why oh why did they implement a console type save game method?? Surely the developers must have keyboards with F5 keys ?

I'm sorry but this game has become totally ridiculous.

It's IMPOSSIBLE to get into this volcano thing without being killed! IMPOSSIBLE.

How the hell you lot do it is beyond me.

The key is to keep your distance and pick them off individually, MOVE lots to avoid rockets, you can see them coming and avoid them, make sure if you dodge them that you are on a ridge so that they don't explode on the ground behind you.

Remember, move and keep moving a static target is a dead target against rocket launching fatboys. If you can find cover consider moving in close and using the shotgun, if not go for headshots with the zoomable assault rifles. Explosives have limited effect on fatboys so don't waste your explosive shells on them.

Another vote here for work slowly and KILL EVERYTHING!!! It's a really hard level...took me about 10 goes to get through.

I'm with iMc on the paranoia trip...if they're dead, they can't sneak up behind you.

I left the buggy behind at the bottom of the bridge, then worked forward on kill on foot....old school man.

Howard ... OICW and OCGW are the two automatic rifles with sniper sights. One is more powerful than the other but can't remember which one is which.

Good luck...I'm seriously thinking about playing the thing again on the next difficulty level up...good game, good game...

mgh0.. I don't hvae any explosives or anything!!

The weapons I have are the ones I collected from the bunker just after that fortified wall... The standard assault rifle, shotgun and two zoomable assault rifles.

I must be on my 30th go at this level now easily. I have tried once to take them all out from a distance, but they take so many god damn hits and the guns are too innacurate for easy headshots so I just end up running out of ammo.

I thought the whole point to "easy" difficulty is that it gives you a freaking chance... I hate to see what "realistic" is like...

if you press x with the zoomables they have an alternate fire mode where one fires a curved trajectory grenade and the other a flat trajectory grenade.

    Howard,

Try lying prone and using the scoped rifles for headshots. Only fire short bursts, 2 or 3 rounds. Move as soon as they start to return fire and repeat the above process. If they get a bit close then just retreat and keep pecking away at them. A few well placed headshots are much more effective than unloading a whole mag into the chest of a fatboy.

If you can use the buggy to thin a few of them out then so much the better but don't get too close as it's a nice big target and you have to keep moving. Not simply forward but back and forth out of sight. I used it to pop up just over the ridge after you drive down off the bridge and then reverse back down just out of sight when they returned fire. Then went to the 'lie prone and snipe' option to finish them off. Use the binos to find any locusts hiding up on the far ridge line by moving forward slowly and scanning after you have killed off the fatboys. Then kill them off by firing from cover as soon as you locate them.

Remember.....old age and treachery will defeat youth and enthusiasm every time.....so be sneaky and fight dirty
