    Half Life 2 Opinions

It's supposedly one of the most anticipated game, but where is it?
    Who knows?
With information coming from Valve and many other sources on the internet its hard to know who to believe. And the constant delays are really getting to me. Granted, its going to be a great game when it finally does come out but I'm frankly getting sick of waiting and i'm not exactly seeing them in a good light after Counter Strike: Condition Zero.
What do you lot think of it at the moment?

I feel your pain. Lets just wait for the game to go gold and then we'l actually know when the game is going to hit the shelves.

I wouldnt trust any sources on this date tbh

After all the delays I think the other production houses will steal a march on Valve and the much vaunted HL2 may be in danger of being yesterdays news before it even hits the shelves. Far Cry has shown us what is the current standard of fps games, I feel that it will only get better with the release of other games due out in the summer and Q4 of this year. HL2 is already the best part of a year behind. It may have missed the boat. I won't be buying it as soon as it hits the shelf. I think I will wait and see what people like your good selves have to say about it first. At the moment it has fallen behind in priority to MOH Pacific Assault, COD united Offensive and Rome Total war on my list of games to buy. Not to mention Doom 3 and more than a passing interest in the new Warhammer 40 000 game, Dawn of War.

So, with all these, and more, due for release and quite possibly on the shelves before HL2 hits our desktops. It could be that HL2 will be relegated to 'also ran' in the stakes for best games of 2004 (or even 2005 at this rate). As opposed to 'groundbreaking gaming experience'.

Yeah - its getting further and further behind. I heard it was schedualed for Nov05 now. I think DOOM3 and Quake4 are just going to steal half life 2 - a year before its even released

And also their new way of handling updates. They now decide instead of giving us a finished game and maybe a few free patches there after to fix stuff and add new goodies they are going to give us a 3/4 finished game and charge us for patches. That's gonna attract people like wild cats isn't it!
You guys are quite right, although I do want to play HL2, over the past months its lost it's seen of "wow, thats amazing" and now its become "we've seen that all before"
Doom 3 looks much more appealing at the moment to me

I think HL2 will be quickly dated, as from teh videos they dont seem to be incredible anymore, UT3 engine makes me go "wow."

However i am not too bothered about teh graphics, hell i still quiet happily play through HL again. It will be a good game, but the graphics wont be as good in comparision to what they were last year. Doom3 looks far nicer graphics wise in my opinion.

What is the deal with that valve are releasing for HL2 game?
I have heard rumours about 3 variations, HL SP, HL SP/MP, HL SP/MP and allows mods - is this actually going to happen?

Cant wait to play HL through again on the HL2 engine .

yes blockers there will be all those different packs u can get,
theres gonna be sp, mp and sp, mod maker, and delux edition containing hl one on the source of hl2 sp and mp hl2 also they are going to put in it a nice *could bury ure grandparents in leather case with a crowbar stiched on the front apparently* thats what gabe newell joked about it and they said they might ship it with dod 2 and cs 2 although dont count on that last bit

this game is going to kill my social life for about 6 months of the year it comes out in be that 2005 or 2060
im sure this game is going to be amazing itll be the only next gen game i dont have to upgrade for !
jsut because valve have been delaying a game doesnt mean the graphics are going to get worse or look worse or the gameplay might be worse
hell they might even have been lying about the whole thing and mabye it has better graphics that unreal 3, why not they lied about everything else?

Problem with HL2 I think is they got overtaken by the likes of Far Cry and now they're so scared of being behind upon release they're trying to improve something the havn't finished yet.

the game has been so long in the waiting, i don't think it's gonna be that much better than what's around at the mo, things move so fast in the IT world and unless they get this out soon, there will be a lot better out on the market

I did read somewhere that they were producing it on the HL2 source...it may have been in the video. Not sure it is actually going to happen, and cba to find any info about it .

its been well over hyped, it will come out and people will either be bored of it or seen so many video's of it running they will lose interest, check the valve site, its dropped back again to November, Doom 3 is slated for september, this could all go pear shaped for valve if they aren't careful. Personally I am sick of hearing about it, the proof is in the pudding, if they put it back again from November they can run and jump for it, but as I see it now I won't be in any hurry to go buy it.

Is it just me, but after playing Far Cry, with all those beautiful sunny beaches and glorious tropical jungles, the vids of Half Life 2 just make me depressed. It looks like Wolverhampton on a wet Sunday afternoon. I play games for the escapism factor, not to feel like I'm popping down to the corner shop for a Mars bar...
