Get a PS1 - PC jobby and then try and find a Namco arcade stick like below. Electronics boutique were selling them for a fiver a while ago. They take more punishment than anything else Ive tried and are very similar to proper arcade sticks, they were also bloody expensive originally.

You cannot beat the X-arcade one, however I'd also like to see the single player one come over here. Imagine modding an EPIA into the base, entirely compact and portable MAME machine .

Where did you get the Arcade parts from? I've been looking for a decent UK supplier for a while now.

I got all my parts from Happ controls http://www.happcontrols.com/ that site is in America. I gave there UK number a ring 1843 871 100 and paid by debit card with no problems.

There's also http://www.suzo.co.uk/home/default.asp and again you have to ring them as there's no online shopping.

http://www.ultimarc.com/ do joysticks, buttons and the IPAC which is a keyboard encoder without the limitation of keyboard ghosting.

http://www.coin.demon.co.uk/ has a small selection and again, no online shopping.

    Good luck

What am I going to be looking at for cost of the parts (stick and buttons), say same as yours minus the roller ball?

I'm not sure mate, it was a long time ago when i ordered mine. One thing is it's not cheap. It's cheaper to buy the X-Arcade but i wanted to build mine as practise for when i do an upright cabinet.

I said i got the parts from Happ but i just got the trackball from them and Ultimarc supplied the Jsticks and buttons. Check the Ultimarc site, all the prices are on there. Happ has a bigger range but more expensive.

I got the spinner(for Arkanoid....) from http://www.oscarcontrols.com/ in the USA
