    cleavland STEAMer

Yeah.. I am aware that steam sucks big time. I also think that the system is going to get uber monged when HL2 is eventually pinched out into the world.

I just got an email from valve asking for my opinions with apparently a personal link to Gabe Newell (valve CEO).. Seemed a bit high level IMO. And also I solicited this apparently because my steam account has been idle for 30 days.. Well I KNOW it has been idle far longer than that. So I suppose it is just a new thing they thought of to extend the annoyance of steam to your inbox..

    just relaying some thoughts...

Steam sucks arse - big time.

myself and my housemate we're playing CS on Saturday afternoon with no issue, Last night he logs into steam(ing pile of poo) to see the message "duplicate CD key"

Now he cannot play CS/HL etc unless he mails his manual with the code to a USA based address. Talk about total utter contempt for gamers outside the USA.

HELLO VALVE !!! There is a world outside the USA you know.

As for Gabe... I'd tell him to lay off the pies for a little while 'cos at the last conference he looked to have added quite a few pounds

Well. When I first started using steam the thing that got me was a mysterious "no game CD" error when I tried to play online. There is me thinking.. BUT there is no cd.. this is steam.

Yay for steam!!!! Only meant I couldnt play for a week becuase if you lose your password and secret question, you lose access to your account and the games youve paid for.

WON was FAR better for just about everything. The only thin I like is the almost daily release of patches. However there implemtation of there content delivery is very poo and was probably coded by a fat person with a beard that also smells of wee who could only use one hand because he was too busy eating lots of PIE!

Hopefully it will get better, directhex you mentioned they hired the bit torrent creator,I think, that can only be good. Acctuall yno it will probably make it more ****e, it willhave everyone with the update lagging becuase there also having to upload it to everyone else.

hmm... so theres a few months for someone to reverse engineer the WON servers so as to code and host there own, people change the ip in Half-Life\valve\woncomm.lst and then we will have cs1.5 for ever

    The CD key thing ?
If so, dont worry. Epic's been updating the master servers to get stats working again, and LOADS of people have had the same happen (me included).

worked it out, was a temporary bug with the 3236 patch under linux - was fixed by adding a blank line to the bottom of /usr/local/games/ut2004/System/cdkey
