    Name Changing

I have just been having a good old day of lannage but it was pretty much ruined by some unknown punk. It was a public "pay & play" type place, you go in and can play on their network. I was hosting a game of CS, the usual, kicking the odd TKer and generally just havinga good time. Towards the end of the match I notice my name has been changed to "Im A Gay Noob" and when I exited and tried to change my name, which appeared as Im%A%Gay%Noob undercustomize, it would not change and stayed as said name.

How can I stop this again or how can I counter it, im guessing someone used the console to change it.

    Thanks in advance guys

I'm guessing he used the console todo it, any ideas?

    Were you playing

    Code:
    lan--\
          >Net?
    lan--/
Any yes he would have done it through a console. Want a way to fix it?
Make your config.cfg read only. right click on it> properties >read only box. The only problem is you cant mess with rates and stuff in game anymore.

Also this is done by using a exec command on the your friends config. e.g exec 1872 (userid) name Im%A%Gay%Noob . It can also be changed back by editing your config.cfg.

That sounds like what he did, coz I never left my machine so he couldnt have renamed me in my console
I was playing it just over LAN, no internet access and I was server admin and I think someone took a disliking to me kicking them and being at the top of the leader board.
Trouble with that fix you told me is that this LAN centre I went to has sorta a closed system, it has a GUI covering windows so you can only access like Games, Programs etc and you can't get into the root directory of places or even the start menu
If it happens again I could always try using the name command to rename myself

Try "window key + e" (window key is the one between ctrl and alt) - this should launch the explorer, and might override the GUI (no guarantee mind). Then you can get to the file u need.
Tough on mirrors, tough on the causes of mirrors.

Did the server have adminmod or AMX on by any chance?

If so, then they simply used a easy to install script that does things like this to annoy the hell out of cheaters - but bad admins are using them for their own pleasure.

Nahh, its a pretty poor place, it was just standard CS 1.5 not AdminMods or anything so I had to use my not so good console skills to get rid of teamkillers and other annoyances.

I tried what Shogun said on my own LAN and exec must relate to a filename so if they did what Shogun said they must have had a script...problem was that there were a few people in our game who I didnt know so I presume it was them.
