    Max Payne 3

Anyone else picked up a crippling painkiller addiction this week?

I was on the fence to be honest, the setting and "Man on Fire" style storyline shown in the trailer looked out of place with the Max Payne I remembered but I took a bit of a gamble and traded Mass Effect 3 in and I'm glad I did. So far I've gone through more ammunition and plate glass windows than John McLane and John Woo combined and there's not a blood trail tight rope walk or crying baby in sight. Even the mulitplayer seems to have more legs than I expected

I completed the first disc and so far I am thoroughly enjoying it, a half decent story and good game play are always a good mix.

    Re: Max Payne 3

Considering how good the previous games were it will have to be pretty good to make them any justice.

But tbh the setting alone would be enough to get my interest, been dying to have an open world game such as GTA in Latin America (particularly Sao Paulo)

    Re: Max Payne 3

It's not open world, not at all, although they do nail the setting. I thought there might be some open world elements or at least some kind of hub seeing as it's so closely related to GTA IV/Red Dead's engine but this is very much your old school very linear Max Payne experience. The bonus to that is that there are no loading times once you start playing, they're all hidden within the cutscenes quite nicely so it flows from area to are very well.

I'm part way through the second disc and so far the story's living up to its counterparts it's just a tad lacking in the "noir" department for my money, oh, and I miss Mona!

Why are PC users having to wait after console release? I preordered it on steam to get the original games and addons thrown in but I am already tired of waiting and was very close to picking it up on Xbox in Tesco yesterday...

    Re: Max Payne 3

Seriously considering getting this, was going to go for a PC version but I would be surprised if my PC would hit the Min/Med requirements these days and the top end specs are gonna cost a bomb to buy a whole new gaming rig for. Shame I am pants with a controller xD

Might wait until the PC version hits, see if there is any sort of demo (which in past experience with Rockstar there won't be), by then hopefully the 360 version will start to come down in price a little.

Played it last night at a friends house and I must admit I was impressed for a 360 version. If the PC low specs looks like that then I would be happy enough with it. Been playing Max 1 and 2 again over the last few weeks and its a bit of a change from the previous two so I know what you mean that it feels out of place a little.

The online was decent also, just a shame I couldn't aim at all with the controller xD Got used to it with all the GoW3 game time but then spent more time on the PC as of late with Tribes and my controller-fu has gone to pot.

Probably due to it being it's own game, not a port, dedicated PC version built from scratch and then Steam releases etc. I know what you mean though, I would like a PC version if mine will handle it, but seeing it and playing it already on the 360 is tempting me to grab it now.

There is a fair bit, there is a mission that involves a nightclub and that gets quite intense with lighting.

Ah thanks. Think I'll be giving this game a miss, would rather have my drivers license lol.

    Re: Max Payne 3

Not played online yet but offline is good fun.
Playing through on hard with free aim on, it can get intense and a little frustrating but prolongs the story which is apparently pretty short.

    Re: Max Payne 3

Not long finished this (also on hard and free aim) and was going to do a Old School (no second chance) and Hardcore play through but really can't be bothered.

I needed painkillers just playing it sometimes. Dont get me wrong it is a great game but the constant flashing, colours flickering and Max's drunk scenes really hurt my head and got tired of playing it so going to pass on another 2 playthroughs.

There's alot of story telling/cut scenes as well which for me broke up the gameplay too much.
