    Jumping the gun

Lots of threads like this flying around on USA gaming websites:

    http://boards.ign.com/Doom_3/b5646/63929546/?6

Seems like, if they're to be believed, some folks have been persuading the retailers to sell copies of D3 earlier than the Tuesday(?) official release date. If you look through the threads you can find the screenshots that have been posted. Is it just me or are they VERY underwhelming?

Interesting to note that D3 is retailing for something like $50-$55 in USA whereas we'll be able to get it for £25 or so in UK = $45. For once we're not getting ripped off.

I'm a bit annoyed with this at the moment but not with Doom 3 but with Madden 05 - it's out in a week in USA with a special collecters edition. UK on the other hand it isnt out for another month (Sep) and no Collecter Edition

And before I get slated for playing Madden, I'm an Eagles fan and this year there going to be fun to watch .

I'll put the other info I found on this thread seeing as a numpty just got my thread closed for discussing warez

    http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=17564

    http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.p...5&page=1&pp=15

    * Please note, nothing there is discussing warez, just the early release of legitimate boxed copies of the game.

The game *has* been cracked and copied, but *please* don't discuss any technical details or I'm sure this thread will get closed too..

This actually raises a valid question over how games companies can ever prevent their games from being copied, as there are obviously bad apples in the supply chains given the fact the the warezed release coincides exactly with the date of this early release..

Should the games companies be looking more carefully at their suppliers/producers?

    Any thoughts?

Looking carefully at the supply chain is useless, there will always be one or more people willing to rip a game - it is always going to happen. Least we get to play it a bit early before we get to buy it now

i would just rather buy the game/cd/dvd etc, cant stand copies and ripped stuff

and no matter how much game companies keep stuff under wraps, someone will always leak info/products

You can talk, and yes you do know what im talking about. With me i don't have a top spec rig so i would rather try a game out so i know if its playable on my system. Would be a bit of a waste of money if i bought a game and wasnt able to play it. I am in no way condoning piracy/warez in this post.

    Of course not shogun
Don't see how any fan regardless of their stance on piracy could resist against it
Everyone's going to buy it anyway, it's an id game !

Thats true, i will almost be certainly be buying it. I'm more looking forward to half life 2 but thats another topic altogether. I just don't think that piracy will ever be able to be stopped completely. There will always be a loose link in the chain where the game will be leaked.

You won't notice that on a TV. It'll 'look' about the same quality.
To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.

Let's just hope that British retailers follow suit and let loose the Revenants of war a little early....oh please please please please...

I think I need to go and sit in a darkened room for a while...all the hype is getting to me...
