    R-Type Final (PS2)

I've come to this a bit late but I still reckon this game could do with some pimpage. If you have a PS2 and have the SLIGHTEST like of side scrolling shooters / games which challenge you and aren't FULL of CGI go get it - t's on play.com for £9.99 delivered...

(And before anyone says it yes R-Type Delta on the PS1 is marginally a better game but Final's still bloody good and WELL worth £10)

    I didn't like R-Type Delta.
    I prefer R-Type LEO & R-Type 2 on Arcades & AMIGA.

    I'll get this one though.

R-Type Final is pretty good fun. I also like Gradius V for PS2. Both very nice updates of the oringinal 2D games and well worth picking up on the cheap. If you like shooters get hold of Psyvariar , a true hardcore shooter classic. The Buzz system is inspired.

I have Psyvariar I & II for PS-2 & DC. They're nice games but a bit too short.
Border Down on DC is a cool game. It reminds a lot of Aero Blasters on the PC-Engine.
Giga Wing 2 on DC is another awesome shmup.
    Also try out:
    Zero Gunner 2
    Giga Wing
    Mars Matrix
    Shikigami No Shiro 2
    Thunder Force V
    Rainbow Cotton

My favourite shooter is probably Kingdom Grand Prix on Sega Saturn, mad as hell. Also love Gunbird 1 & 2.
