I don't think there is a better way, it would stress the hardware (even a 9800Pro) too much so you don't get a good frame rate.

What I do is use a DV camcorder that has DV i/o so I can connect that up to my 9800 pro and set it to record and it will record like a normal camera but it doesnt have any lines on it (as if you filmed a monitor) or anything.

See if you can borrow a DV camera of someone, it works well for me

Hyper camis very clever but no use for games.....you can set the area of the screen you want filmed...so set the grid reference for it....and then make the box any size....immesnely clever...

    but no better than FRAPS2

FRAPS is largely CPU and memory based. Graphics card makes very little difference.
The Graphics card is just rendering them. The CPU is doing all the work to capture them.

Like mentioned above, getting the image outputed to a recording device, then re-importing is often the easiest way for us without video editing equipment.
I remember doing this to a VCR video, them reimporting as a MPEG back in the days of Mechwarrior 3

It is a good idea, I thought of it myself

I use the little circle connector between the DVI and VGA output (the name has escaped me for the moment )

I have a converter that plugs into that, which I can then plug into my camera (into the analogue video port of my camera)
It doesn't capture sound but it can get some pretty good images anyway and it doesnt stress your hardware (9800 Pro) at all it just stresses the camera, what its meant todo anyway

If you got any more questions then don't hesitate to ask, I'll try my best at answering them but i'm on holiday at the moment so I might be too sunburnt to reply

Wow, you used to play MechWarrior 3? I still play it after 7 years on MSN Gaming Zone

You might not have tried this and it might not make a difference, but lower the number of FPS Fraps records at to 15.
To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.

But lowering it to 15, wouldnt that make it stutter, as 21 fps is (apparently) the level where you see the image begin to flicker?

    I should pop back on.
Was in a clan called "SA", which pretty much mopped up every league title at one point
Also got noticed by MS (They put some stuff on the offical mech 3 page about us).
    Was pretty cool

Moved onto mech 4 though, but never really stuck with it
Mech 3's "Make a mistake and your dead" way was so much more fun than mech 4's pansy run around each other in a circle for 10 mins unloading all your weapons as soon as you can

Most peoples eyes can see the difference right up into the 100's of FPS, and you will almost always noticed a flicker in images if you have 2 of them side by side, one running faster than the other.

15 is a bit too low imo, but it should be watchable. 20fps would be a nice ballence.
Idealy, you want to catch as many FPS as you can, and then lower the rate as much as you can. On slow moving images, you can get away with a lower FPS, but when a lot of things are moving around on the screen, it will be more noticable.
If you have suitable software, you could add some limited motion blur in the video to help mask the low FPS, but it doesnt work as well as on Tv's and cinemas due to the monitors higher refresh rate. You'll have to be very sparse with it.

    Right, got ya there bud
As Zakky is recording NFS and Porsche 2000, I think it would be quite noticable at a lower frame rate, but as you say, motion blur might cover that up.

You could always try borrowing a camera that has DV i/o off someone you know locally, or some kind hexite might lend you theres

I think one of my first clans was IP, Ice Phoneix or summint I presume, the names always were (and still are) so unimaginative. What was your favorite game type Agent? C1?
