    Re: FarCry 3 - Who's excited?

Being trying to download it since 07:30 today. I'm getting about 16kb/sec from their lousy servers, other sites are fine and I can get 6MBps from Steam. Haven't they heard of pre-loading? (or have Apple copyrighted that too )

    Re: FarCry 3 - Who's excited?

...well 7 hours to download 9GB but its finished, yay lets go install and play!

^&%$^$£&$%** CRC errors in about 15 files but I thought I would ignore them and see if it would play anyway (knowing I may well have to redownload)

Finished installing, hit play and now it is downloading a 270MB patch at 16kB/sec.

    What a shambles!

PS You can get the patch full speed directly from http://static3.cdn.ubi.com/far_cry_3/farcry3_1.01.exe if uPlay is slow.

Ubisoft are not so bad, the problem is they got taken over by sony sony have killed many good games... hate them
Lots of lauch problems, looks like many bugs. It downloaded ok but I might wait a few days for patches.

Second Download also corrupted. Same CRC errors in same files (and I had deleted cached download before second attempt). Applied the patch anyway in the hope it would over-write corrupt files but no joy.

Uninstalled and ticket submitted to Ubisoft for refund. If they refuse will go to my card issuer.

Lot of positive stuff around about this, bit I'm not going to hold my breath. Far too much hype about a game only to be let down.

    Re: FarCry 3 - Who's excited?

downloaded in 20 minutes, installed just fine and happily playing it now.

blueballs your problem probably just relate to everyone trying to downloading the game at the same time, origin was the same for bf3 and i think steam was for portal 2. surely another day or two or waiting and you'll get the game you want?

    FarCry 3 - Who's excited?

Downloaded mine at 6.40am in about 30mins total and worked fine. no issues at all.

Well after 8 hours of playing last night, I can confirm.

The graphics are awesome. My HD 7850 runs it at optimal and it looks so good. The fluid movement of the NP characters looks so real.

Its been well though out. Things like when you fire in the jungle, the plants actually fall apart. Animals attack each other and the enemy. Many small things like that.

The mulitplayer however suffers from 1 major drawback, it takes ages to launch a game. Waited 10 mins in the lobby for my 1st match to start.

It is 100 times better than FarCry 2.

    now going back to play.

    Not me.
They have all been slow paced and disappointing, and this will be no exception.

must be loosing my mind, thought i'd posted this earlier - anyone up for some co-op at some point? possibly tomorrow? my uplay name is same as here

as for performance, i seem to be struggling to get decent fps on my new 7950 with 12.11 beta8 drivers. think i've got it set to high currently with 1080 resolution. fingers crossed they'll keep working on the drivers as every other game i've got can handle 1080 with 60+ fps

I will add you when I get a chance to play today at some point.

On my 7850 I am getting 40fps on optimal settings and it looks awesome. I am using a 1680 x 1050 resolution though.

These new drivers will be a good help.
