    UT2004 installation

I just bought UT2004 and was going to install it but I wanted to know that if it is installed now and then format in a few weeks when I get my new hard drive. Will the game have issues with the cd key once I get around to installing it again?

The only problem you might have is installing MODS for it later, as a lot of them search for an installed copy of UT2004 and when it's not in the registry they will not install so you may have to install them manually.

Wouldn't that just be if he were to copy and paste the UT2004 folder over and not reinstall it?

From what i can read he is going to install it now, then again when he gets his new hard drive, so it should be fine.

You will still need to resinsert the registry information, as its where the CDkey and other info is stored. The game wont run without it.

I just export the branch, and load the .reg file back after pasting the folder back. I do it all the time

    i thought it was plain-text in /usr/local/games/ut2004/System/cdkey

Yeah but i mean he said he was going to reinstall to a formatted hard drive. So it would write the registry entries during the UT2004 installation and ask for the CD-key (which it would make a reg entry for) during installation.

Oh i thought he meant leaving the game on the HD but not re-installing the game but after re-reading his post he means what you said in formating the HD and then re-install the game.

If thats what he is doing then there will be no problem re-installing the game as it wont cause any problems..

Silly me for reading it wrong
