    Richard Burns Rally

I've heard it was released yesterday, is this right? Has anyone played it? Is it any good? Its been quoted as being 'fiendishly difficult'. Sounds like fun!

    Cheers

played it whilst in PC World killing some time last week. It is really hard - proper hard, none of this pansy Gran Turismo hard.

The car feels very loose (i know its a rally game, but relatively speaking) plus i was playing with a joypad which doesnt help. Is there a demo around?

I like the GT series, I just find it waaaay too easy, but thats a topic for another thread.

Nah I havn't seen a demo about. Is it as hard or harder than Magnetic Fields' 'British Rally Championship'? Apparantly it's being released on DVD only, which I think is a very good thing, another game to the world finally getting rid of those god-awful CD's

Uhh, I don't like it, I might like it more if I had a control device that'll actually let me control the cars propery. Other than that the game is just so flat. The graphics are reasonable, they look better than CMR4 in some places, and look worse in others. The cars don't look as good as CMR4 and, although damage is more accurate, the damage model is nasty, with the car just bending and warping and glass breaking strangely. other models are rubbish especially the guys who 'help' you return the car to the road, although spectators jump out of the way of your car is it careers off the track (again), if you actually manage to get in line to run someone down, you just get plonked back on the track. The pace notes are crap compared to the CMR4, i'd say just below the par of CMR2. The gameplay is more configurable than most other Rally Sims, but graphical options are limited. Overall pretty bland but very difficult, i'm sure some have a taste for it (if you have a wheel). Good job MVC does returns.

Got this game yesterday. Its full of bugs, everytime I go through the rally school it dumps me back to desktop. The sound is very bad, lots of crackling. Also getting lines across the tarmac, when I am able to drive the car, it does feel very good, its what I expect a real rally car to behave like. Once all the bugs are sorted out, i may consider a wheel for it.

I've got it and I'm enjoying it. Shame about the bands on the road, but otherwise I don't have any bugs. Car model drives well, damage does what I expect and I love the replays. It's hard work but I like it.

Bands on the road - looks like an ATI bug. You get horizontal lines all over the road, very annoying.

Haven't had it crash on me. Saying that I'm stuck in advanced driving school cos I use a stick and can't acclerate and brake at the same time.

This is a bit like Gran Prix Legends. Extremely difficult at first, but the time you spend developing your skills are richly rewarding. If you have the time to play it i would highly recommend this title

If you want realism and hugely difficult but fun get this, if you want quick arcade thrills but fun get any of the CM series, except maybe number 3.

I played the full game and I noticed the sounds are exactly the same for every car. I really really hate that. Sounds, to me, make or break a driving game. If it's going to be a simulation make the god damn cars sound real, right?
