Pc gaming on a couch and TV?

    Hi all, new guy here!

As an Xbox gamer who is making the move to PC, I'm curious as to whether many people game with a PC on a couch and TV? Is this possible with wireless keyboard and mouse?

I don't mean to have the PC permanently connected to the TV, but when the missus has gone to bed, I would love to be able to hook it up, and game from the couch.

So is it possible? Or am I better just investing in a comfy chair and leaving the PC attached to it's normal display?

yes it is possible, some games even use the xbox controller so that would help! but in regards to wireless mouse and keyboard unless you want to go pro i feel (as i do it on occasions) that a wireless m/k is fine with your pc on a tv

Although the pc will naturally be better with mouse and keyboard on a monitor due to the nature of the way you sit with a mouse and keyboard (you will get uncomfortable sat on a sofa with the mouse and keyboard after an hour or so) depends though to be honest!

What are you intending to rest the kb and mouse on? Can't imagine it would work out too well, personally.

I'd thought about getting a small folding table, or perhaps a large tray of some sort!

It'd more than likely give you back ache after a while. With a controller you can sit with your back against the back of the couch, but if you put a keyboard and mouse on a table you'd likely have to lean forward on order to use them.

Maybe piling up some cushions behind your back might help. It'd be better to use something like a large tv dinner tray to put the keyboard and mouse on.

I'm going to have a look on google and see what there is out there that I could use.

I realise that it probably seems a lot of hassle, but one of the things I love most about gaming is the relaxing!

I do with keyboard / mouse which is on the coffee table which is the same height as the sofa seat and also a gamepad on games that support it. Haven't been using kb / m as much lately with having pain in my hands most the time so the gamepad is definately better suited.

Steam Big Picture Mode is great as it is geared nicely towards a TV with large icons to click to start up a game.

I use the Gigabyte Skyvision which I reviewed here to wirelessley stream content to the TV, I get full 1080p (1920x1080) and it works amazing, it gets a fair bit of use.

I have a PC hooked up to my TV and I have a wireless Microsoft Desktop set on it but it has trouble getting a signal from the mouse that's only about 10 feet from the receiver, it's supposed to have a range of about 30 feet so I should be more than close enough.

I set it up primarily for netflix but gaming would be cool if I can sort the keyboard mouse signal issue.

Yes I changed the batteries before anyone asks

Re: Pc gaming on a couch and TV?

Mine is exactly the same when I used to hook it up to the TV, had the receiver stretched out across the floor as far as it would go and it was very choppy.

So now I have a coffee table with a shelf which my pc sits on and I just wirelessley stream to the tv, monitor sits on the end at back left of the table. I have the Microsoft Ergonomic keyboard & mouse set also so the adapter sits underneath on the shelf, as does the 360 pad wireless adapter.

I'm surprised that there isn't a tray etc designed for this purpose. Or maybe there is but I've not found it yet!
