Cool, Im thinking about getting 1
Get Kung Fu Chaos, more fun than a bag of monkeys!
DOooo it Doooo it come over to the dark side. I mainly play games on my PC but reserve my xbox for drunken gaming with mates (not the rubber kind). Will have a look at burnout 3, have just started need for speed underground, its on the budget label so cost £15. Is a great laugh and has a really good sense of speed.
Man have you got it modded yet, then you can copy games to the hard drive!
jjonesorguk, i would edit your post before the mods see it if i were you.
I don't recommend modding, my mate had it done and it worked great for a few weeks. Then something went wrong and now he cant play any games at all. I'm sure plenty of people have successfully modded their boxes but just a word of warning as I know it can go horribly wrong. My mate certainly won't be doing it again. Waste of an Xbox if you ask me.
Why? I've modded my XBOX and copied all my games to the harddisk. Nothing wrong with copying your own games to your own hard disk. Or are you saying you never do this on your PC (which is what the XBOX is, really)?Quote:

Nothing wrong with talking about modding an Xbox... or copying games YOU OWN onto it.
Modding a PS2 is a different kettle of fish as there's pretty much only one reason why you'd want to.
Playing import games ;) ?
Modding a PS2, even just to play import games is now actually illegal under UK law. I can only assume the courts would apply the same rules to Xbox.
UPDATE LINK: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/3915179.stm
Any form of mod-chip for any console is now illegal, it was in the "METRO" paper :)
If im wrong feel free to correct me :D
Nope, same rules apply to both consoles. PS2 can now host games from harddisk too, just like the XBOX.Quote:

And no, the Cromwell BIOS/Linux argument for the XBOX doesn't change any of that. If M$ change tack - which I don't think they will - they'd have exactly the same legal rights as Sony.
Still, PS2 sucks, so no problem. :-)

PS2 has some fantastic games, but I do prefer Xbox because of the lack of tiny memory cards though. PS2 wins hands down on games though.
Literally all todays top games are released on both these days - inc. MGS and GTA. Graphics tend to be much sweeter on XBOX. The only game I can think of worth buying for the PS2 is the Gran Turismo series, which I will happily admit has no equal on any platform, including the PC. What other *top* games are you thinking of which are PS2 specific?Quote:

Way too many to list them all unlike the top Xbox exclusives, some of my favourite games are the Ratchet and Clank series and the Jak and Daxter games which are only on PS2 and fantastic. The Final Fantasy games are also PS2 exclusives as are most other top japanese RPGs, if you want RPGs the XBox is terrible, the PS2 seems to have hundreds. The you have hidden gems like Ico, Sly Raccoon and Maximo Vs The Army Of Zin which are criminally overlooked in favour of the latest EA 2012 Underground skatboarding football game. Obviously there is new stuff like KillZone and GTA:San Andreas (the previous GTA games were released over a year after the PS2 version the Xbox version of San Andreas is yet to be announced) coming out in next month or so.
Ratchet and Clank series and the Jak and Daxter...Quote:

The Final Fantasy games...
Hated all of them. I prefer a bit more 'game' in my games. :-)
RPGs..
Sorry, but RPG's are best on the PC. Oh, and look at Fable on the XBOX. :-)
Ico.
Absolutely stunning game. Why oh why haven't Sony turned out a follow-up, instead of all the other rubbish they push out...
Sly Raccoon and Maximo Vs The Army Of Zin.
Didn't like either of them. Overrated, IMHO. :-) Sly2 isn't much better.
KillZone.
Looked great in the early days, but the latest previews I've read show the hands-on play to be poor. Will probably be an OK game, but no Halo killer - and Halo2 will probably swamp it at release time.
GTA:San Andreas.
PC and XBOX versions in 6 months or so after PS2. Much better graphics and controls. Only cynical marketting makes this sell so much on the PS2 (i.e. they delay the really good versions on the other platforms.)
Seems we'll have to agree to differ. Still, I'm sure GT4 will be good. :-)

Never been a fan of PC RPGs, I much prefer Japanese ones, although Im not really a fan of the recent Final Fantasy games. But there is no debating that the serries is a HUGE success and not available to Xbox owners.
Fable on the Xbox is great but doesnt have the charm of Japanese stuff. Xbox really suffers from lack of quality Japanese titles, too many US titles that are all bluster and no style.
Best thing to do is own both :D
Oh and SAn Andreas is not due out on Xbox in 6 months. PC version is set for next summer but its a PS2 console exclusive for at least a year.
Latest from Rockstar (as of last week) is PS2 release may slip a week or so, but looking likely end of Oct. PC release out maybe in May (might slip a little.) Thats Dec->May: 6 months for PC after PS2. Hated Vice City on PS2, absolutely loved it on the PC; so that's the version I'm holding out for. Should look/run super sweet on my 6800GT. :-)Quote:
